"It is better to be loved by those low and humble for undisguised honesty, than flattered by the great for purchased and pensioned hypocrisy." - John Clare
That’s all.
@RITB_ We filled a small community theatre with men to talk about men’s MH - believing that they were embarrassed to talk about mental health with their GP. Turns out they had been bringing the subject up but had been closed down or told not to worry and so didn’t persevere.
@JDaviesPhD Mine had a spiritual element, that was very important for me. I was able to bring my whole self into the space. We also used a lot of of poetry and myth and metaphor, which particularly works for me. I also found having a same-sex practitioner made me feel safe. I felt seen.
@ShaunLintern If there had been any significant change post Francis ( save for endless task forces and PowerPoints and meetings ) we wouldn’t have the majority of ICBs as they exist today because patients and communities would have been central to system design - not bolted on as to do tasks.
@ShaunLintern It’s why the implementation of coproduction struggles. If people who use the NHS are in the room they see things and speak up and ask the difficult questions. They remind leaders of their duty of candour. They put patient experience in the room. They are managed out.
@ProfLAppleby I think (genuinely-but stand to be challenged and learn ) in health the issue is a positivist approach to knowledge gathering vs critique and negation of dominant narratives and academic publications that stifle genuine dissent and disruption. You can be kooky/weird bt not angry.
@supertanskiii@MarkFiddy159 are you blinded by a belief that getting the Tory’s out and Labour in at any cost was the answer to the nations issues? You do seem to be defending Labour a lot with an unquestioning loyalty. Forgive me if I missed anything critical you posted, lots not up on my feed atm
Senior NHS managers should be disqualified if they are found unsuitable to carry out their roles, Sir Robert Francis tells @Thirlwall_Inq https://t.co/1wzjFNrKsz
@KirstieMAllsopp I did this at 16 -for 2 months! Eating bread and cheese and night trains, hostels and home stays, finally landed on a cool beach and decided to stay before returning home to start college. 2 girls, raised to think about safety but not imprisoned by fear of risk. Life lessons.
@ProfLAppleby Or crucially why we keep trying to fix something that is not fit for purpose. It’s a human management system, holding, de-escalating, referring, signposting, medicating and containing. There is little actual treatment. Ps -what happened to the NHS community transformation funding?
@ProfDonnaHall How can I tell you that reading your experiences gives me hope. That’s crazy-but somehow knowing I’m not alone in witnessing the hypocrisy and self serving career boosting behaviours that sellout local communities and look the other way. Many win awards, get on the honours list..
@pwtc_wood @SCIE_socialcare@PeteFleischmann@TinaColdham@BeresfordPeter@copronetwales@UCL_CoPro@OxonCopro It’s a great topic. What’s missing for me is ‘the will’ and the b**locks to address the core issue of sharing power in hierarchical systems without saying coyly oh but this is the best we can do..it’s first steps. NO! It’s fundamental and essential. It means checking out yourself.
@BeresfordPeter Oh wow I love that stool!! My PhD paper I’m working on challenges that positivism in coproduction and the rejection / silencing of critical voices and the weight of being the yes but person… Im into revolutionary subjectivity and negative dialectics!
