Been incredibly busy wrapping up senior year lately, so I haven’t been active.
Quickly wanted to touch on Murakami, no idea why anybody ever thought he wouldn’t be a very good MLB hitter. Obviously, pitching is better here, so there’s some regression, but was always gonna hit
Weekly recaps are back! Read about rookies Kevin McGonigle, Chase DeLauter, and Konnor Griffin, the Yankees historic pitching start, and more around the league below:

New blog up covering the NL West! A little late due to some travel I’ve had this week but it’s Opening Day so perfect day for a blog anyways. It’s a quick read, as there is nothing of surprise. The Dodgers are the best, and the Rockies are the worst.

New blog up on the NL east. Should be a fairly competitive division, but I ultimately have the Mets winning it. Find out why here:

The Tigers get Framber Valdez and now I am severely confused on how the Tigers will pay Framber Valdez $38 million a year but won’t give Tarik Skubal $32 million this year…

The Mariners add Brendan Donovan, strengthening their lineup, defense, and flexibility. Donovan is one of those guys most teams wish they had. Great move for Seattle.

Kind of crazy to me that Trent Grisham was given a $22 million contract (QO) and Eugenio Suarez who did not receive the QO only signs for $15 million, despite having eerily similar outputs and run values across the board. The market this offseason has been very odd.

The Rangers acquire Mackenzie Gore for 5 of their top 20 prospects, including last year’s 12th overall pick Gavin Fien. While this does solidify the Rangers rotation and give them the potential to be a great staff, the Nationals get a great load of prospects

Mets make a huge splash by landing not just Freddy Peralta but also Tobias Myers for Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat. Obviously Peralta the star but Myers is a strong pitcher as well. Great trade for New York
#mets#mlb
The Yankees bring back Cody Bellinger. Barring any trades, they will run back one of the better regular season lineups. It will just be a matter of can everyone repeat that production.
#Yankees#mlb
The Mets acquire Luis Robert Jr. Upgrade in CF for them but you have to figure this takes them out of the Bellinger sweepstakes. Wonder what he’s thinking in terms of where he’s considering
#mets#Mlb
And the Phillies will run it back with JT Realmuto on a 3 year $45 million deal. Good for them, keeping a premier defensive catcher and a solid bottom of the order bat in the lineup.
#mlb#phillies
The Mets immediately pivot and pick up Bo Bichette for 3 years and $126 million. They deepens their lineup, and now have plenty of infield trade capital, but will have a very interesting defensive dynamic around the horn. Will be something to watch.

Had Ohtani’s money not been deferred, we would not have reached the point we are at. I truly believe that deferred money is THE cause of this situation we are in and that is what the MLB and MLBPA should be looking at when discussions on the CBA begin next offseason. (6/6)
I’ve been seriously thinking about how we got to this point and the only conclusion I can truly draw is that Shohei Ohtani is the cause of all of this. When Ohtani deferred nearly all the money in his contract, it enabled the Dodgers to use his name to make boatloads of money (1)
68 million deferred dollars are going to be worth pennies to that franchise. The Dodgers simply jumped ahead of a curve that we didn’t even know existed. Now that they make near billions yearly off of Ohtani, they can pay everyone. (5)
