Due to the upcoming arrival of baby, weeSTEMs sessions won’t be restarting in 2021 in order to allow me to continue to shield and then take a few months off with the little one 👶🏼

🏝 Play ‘Hop on the number’ (someone shouts a number and the players jump on that number. Then switch turns)

To celebrate Perseverance landing tonight we made our very own Mars robot - complete with sample cache.

☄️Used a calendar to track when it was launched and how long it’s taken to get to Mars
☄️Drew annotated diagrams of what we thought our Mars rover needs
☄️Worked together to select the best materials to create it

♥️ Rip red paper and place into a blender
♥️ Add water & soak
♥️ Blitz into a paste
♥️ Drain through a sieve or in your hand for extra sensory play!
♥️ Mix through seeds (you could harvest your own from fruit that you have)
♥️ Shape into a love heart and leave to dry

Number bonds simply means which number you’d pair (i.e. bond) with another in order to result in a specific answer (in this case 10).

For example, some number bonds to 10 are:
2 + 8 = 10
3 + 7 = 10
4 + 6 = 10

We used:
🐦 Birdseed (for small birds)
🐦 Lard (melted)
🐦 Cookie cutters & yoghurt pots
🐦 String
🐦 Mixing bowl & spatulas
🐦 Baking tray (for drying them on)

Simply mix together the birdseed & lard and shape into anything you have to hand.
