@culturaltutor Great thread, as always - thanks. I take the chance to post this - from 1904 in Brussels also, by a differznt architect, Ernest Delune, and contemporary of Horta's
@IanDunt Fremdschämen - the German word for feeling embarrassed on behalf of someone else. No dictionary need explain the concept - simply include a link to this video.
@TheMiliverse That's not what I heard - he's favourite to replace Charles Michel as President of the European Council. The country basks in the warm glow of a UK centre left politician being recognised internationally.
Labour could do worse than simply use this as a party political broadcast, to remind us of the lowest ebb of the Tory's time in power - among the most important speeches in the HoC in the last 20 yrs, the conscience of the nation https://t.co/llJkCOLKD3 via @YouTube
@iamkosmonaut Even better, after the petition in the 1990s to knock down the PdR and 'rebuild' the Stadtschloss, there is now a petition to knock down the Humbolt Forum and rebuild the PdR 😎
@iamkosmonaut I found this v ironic- the bizarre Humbolt Forum (a mix of airport architecture and 3D printed baroque, that lost its raison-d'etre before it even opend) exhibiting bits from PdR - like a middle-aged man, who's let himslf go, still displaying photos of his 1st more glamorous wife
@POB_journo@GeorgieHeath27@french_cricket@AlisonMitchell depressing details on the sad state of affairs at France Cricket and the petty treatment of the women's team in particular. Let's hope the ICC can take steps to clean up the house (which they wholly fund) and allow cricket to develop to its potential in France
