As a writer, I negatively judge show creators when they waste a great plot line with horrendous characters, force kickass characters into mediocre stories…
Or create something I definitely would have come up with myself if given a little extra time.
Today I decided that one of my side characters would have a mild allergy to shellfish.
No, it’ll never be mentioned nor take any part in the narrative, but what an exciting new chapter in the process!
Fun Fact:
96% of the time, it is in your
best interests to say
‘the book was better’.
Even if it wasn’t.
And even if there was no
book in the first place.

Reader: You’re characters are just so vibrant and relatable
Writer: Oh, thanks!
Reader: And that cliffhanger was intense
Writer: Uh-huh
Reader: But-
Writer: Great, well I think this is a good place to stop for the day
Me: Everyone’s always like ‘don’t invite the whole class to the party except one kid, that’s cruel’ but then got all surprised when Maleficent turned up as the only one in the kingdom not invited. Who’s the real villain here?
Telemarketer: I-I do not know.

You know the song they play to hurry actors off stage at award shows? The one that makes them go 1000 words per minute?
Yeah. Imma need that for my writing sessions, because right now my brain is churning out words like it wasn’t even nominated.
This is going to sound INSANE but bear with me:
Some people go to bed, close their eyes…and sleep.
That’s it. No plotting, not even a novella-length idea. Multi-part book series? Forget about it!
Apparently they also feel well-rested after as well, but that sounds made up too.
My Writing Process:
Lay in bed: Create flawless plot
Take shower: Build fictional world Make breakfast: Invent multi-dimensional characters
