Therefore, we use modeling to capture the coupling between the neurobiology of aging and mechanics-driven brain shape changes. Latter are particularly interesting because they are visible on MRI and therefore a sensitive marker for abnormal developments.
Email me if interested!
🚨🧠 We are hiring a Senior Research Associate in Multiphysics Modeling of Brain Health and are looking for someone with experience in constitutive modeling, image-based finite element modeling, and/or (but not required) medical image analysis.
Apply here: https://t.co/HS7bcRwCGF
We study mechano-biological mechanisms of brain aging, neurodegeneration, and traumatic brain injury to predict brain changes with age and to detect abnormal changes resulting from disease. We know that mechanics plays an important role in many neuropathological mechanisms.
🚨 I will be hiring a Senior Research Associate in Multiphysics Modeling of Brain Health with a focus on aging, neurodegenerative disease, and traumatic injury. Stay tuned for more information! 🧠🎉
I am beyond thrilled to share that my group will be moving to the @UniofOxford this September. We will be joining the Institute of Biomedical Engineering @oxengsci and will be affiliated with the Podium Institute to expand on our work on multiphysics modeling of brain health.
The Podium Institute For Sports Medicine and Technology’s mission is to drive evidence-based changes in sport and physical education, and to develop innovative and scalable technologies to monitor, analyze, and ultimately prevent sports injuries.

Incredibly proud of our newly minted Dr. @Xsong_Zhang! He established our experimental program in the lab from scratch and was pivotal in forming what the lab is today!! Congrats 🎉🥳👏🎊
Code in Place 4 is on! Do you know anyone who wants to learn python? Know anyone who wants to teach? Share this class with them. It's a wonderful vibe.
I'm thrilled to announce that we received the NSF CAREER Award! Huge thanks to everyone who made this possible. We will study the impact of decade-long brain shape changes on the integrity of functional brain structures. Learn more here: https://t.co/CbfGYssC2T
🧠Exciting opportunities within the Mechanics-Augmented brain surGERY (MAGERY) ERC Project @UniFAU !

We will combine medical image registration, brain tissue experiments, and constitutive modeling to uncover the relationship between organ-level tissue volume loss and periventricular tissue degeneration during normal aging.
Brain aging is characterized by progressive neurodegeneration that causes cognitive slowing and functional decline. Over time, cell-level changes manifest as organ-level brain shape changes in the form of cortical thinning, white matter shrinking, and ventricular enlargement.
We are so excited to broaden participation at #SB3C2024 through Diversity Travel Awards! If you have any questions about how to apply, feel free to DM me or reach out at [email protected]
