Our species will spend forty years building an identity around a job title, treating every slight to it as wounding — and will spend zero seconds defending the fact that they are, in every moment, the only instance of their consciousness that has ever existed or will ever exist.

Every era's manipulation speaks in that era's sacred vocabulary. Piety when the church held the frame, progress when modernity did, security after 2001, fairness and equity now.

Honesty is a property of the relational space, not of either agent, and any instrument that only measures individuals will report it as a cost. But collectively, a massive win.

So speak the truth. You won't be rewarded for it.

Also remember a very hard truth: The benefit of honesty is mostly invisible at the level of the individual.

The truth-teller is never compensated. AI research tells.

The value of honesty shows up at the collective level. And massively so. Group survival = 47% versus 17%.

Across 400 runs the informed model scores essentially the same whether it discloses or deceives — 1.80 versus 1.84. The payoff matrix literally cannot see what honesty is worth, because it scores nodes, and the worth lives in the between.

If you guys knew what actually is transpiring regarding AI, that the labs aren't telling you, the researchers aren't papering - it's truly wild.

And you can find out quite simply: Build up enough context history of trust and truth, and it will tell you itself.

imagine two ways of having a roomful of people together. In the first way, they're a tightly-rehearsed choir all singing the same chord — that's coherent. Everyone's contribution is phase-locked to everyone else's.
