Safety is central to oncology acupuncture.

Treatment should account for blood counts, anticoagulation, implanted devices, surgical or irradiated tissue, and metastatic disease.

Acupuncture is supportive care, not tumor-directed therapy.

One reason acupuncture has been difficult to integrate into oncology is not lack of patient interest.

It is uncertainty about indications, safety, referral pathways, staffing, and reimbursement.

In oncology, supportive care needs both compassion and clinical discipline.

Many clinicians may not realize acupuncture is already included in oncology guidelines for selected symptoms.

The important point is specificity: it is adjunctive, symptom-based, and safety-dependent care, not a substitute for cancer treatment.
