@HeatCulture13@EthanJSkolnick Reminds me of the off-season moves the 2017 Cavaliers made. Stacking a team with 2 Stars with a bunch of way past their prime vet minimum contracts in hopes of getting a Chip. The difference us the East isnt as weak as it was then. Knicks, Pistons, Cavs, Celtics, Pacers,. Better?
@ChaseMcRaw No way in hell am I doing Sharpe plus 3-4 1sts. I could probably be talked into Sharpe plus Grant for AD, partially because it doesn't cost any draft calital.
Im curious if Milwaukie were hesitant to bring Portland into the trade mix because they already looked so bad after the Dame trade. Sending a star in Brown back to Portland for their own picks back would have just added gasoline to how bad the Blazers won that Dame trade in 2023.
Now that the Giannis drama is over, Portland should improve the roster the best it can with their own picks. Leave the Bucks picks alone, so that it lines up that when Dame, Jrue, Grants contracts expire in 2028. Bucks likely lottery picks will be the perfect final piece assets.
@dalton1527@BlazersLead It was a good team. I wasn't sold on Lopez as the starting center. I thought he was solid and would be an above average reserve, but I thought it was a weak link with the starters. Felt the same way about Przybilla.
@rsievers11rob@310jayare@BlazersLead Ok that makes sense. I would still be curious what it would take to add those 2 to the roster. I would have preferred Giannis and im still hoping for Brown, but the team was trying to give Dame a contender level roster for the next 2 seasons I think adding those 2 would do it.
@AaronJFentress@blazerbanter People dont realize that typically if a player is perfect, they aren't on the trading block. People nit pick whenever a player is having a down year, oerpaid or has injury issues but fail to realize that that is often the reason a player is on the trade block to begin with.
@310jayare@BlazersLead Could be wrong but I thought Portland was under the cap enough to trade Kris Murray/picks to get Murphy. If that move happened I think it would soften the the potential loss of Sharpe/Grant if thats what it takes to get Davis. You'd still have the mid level exception as well.
@ToreyJonesYT What if a move for AD was followed up by s move fir Trey Murphy? Probably an overpay for both, but a starting 5 of Dame/Trey/Deni/Davis/Clingan has floor spacing and size.
@MNptly@SleeperBlazers@JakeLFischer If Yang can show signs of improvement as he develops, I think Rob Will won't be as necessary and likely movable salary down the road. Adding to what you already have might be more beneficial than replacing. I think a bench wing that can space the floor would be a preferable add.
@MNptly@SleeperBlazers@JakeLFischer I dont think it has to be one or the other. Isn't Portland under the cap enough to re-sign Rob and still have the Mid level exception to bring in the kind of player you are talking about, or at least a solid rotational piece upgrade?
@BlazersLead I think id be curious about follow up moves. If Portland were able to split some of its assets and obtain both Murphy and Anthony Davis that might be the best 2 year window of contention you could give Dame. Dame/Trey/Deni/Davis/Clingan would have the size and shooting to contend
@ToreyJonesYT I want Portland to take a swing, but they can still improve the roster around the margins in free agency and simply having better luck health wise. 6 tradable 1st round picks, young talent and watching how Dame fits, Portland is still in great position to make a deal mid-season.
