When do socialization efforts succeed? Why have the EU and US respective socialization efforts with China produced both successes and failures? In the new article with @CameronThies published in @JIRD_jour , we explore such theoretical question and empirical puzzle.
We argue that socializee's perception of norms/roles and its perception of socializers' behavior matter for effective socialization. Appropriate norms/roles and socializers' consistent behavior with the norms/roles they promote lead to socialization success.
