"Believe me, there must be actual faith in Christ, or else Christ died in vain so far as you are concerned. It is not looking at the bread that feeds the hungry man but the actual eating of it. It is not gazing on the lifeboat that saves the shipwrecked sailor, but actually getting into it. It is not knowing and believing that Christ is a Saviour that can save your soul, unless there are actual transactions between you and Christ. You must be able to say, “Christ is my Saviour, because I have come to Him by faith, and taken Him for my own.”" (J. C. Ryle, "Holiness")
On this day in history, 1947, Anne Frank's diary was published for first time. Her story has been a blessing to so many. Imagine if she hadn’t written it down. Your story may never be read by anybody but you, but it will nonetheless be a blessing.
Your story matters. Write it down!

Your journaling prompt for the day comes from the man in black.
"Anyone who really wants the truth ends up at Jesus." (Johnny Cash)
Journaling prompts are thoughts or words or phrases or quotes or verses that make you think… that jog your mind… that move your pen. What does this quote make you want to write in your journal?

Here is a praiseworthy and yet convicting word from Farrington’s journal. He wrote this on June 9, 1821.
“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10)
O Father in heaven, I thank Thee for the family of God — my brothers and sisters in Christ. How precious is this bond! They encourage me when I am faint, convict me when I stray, strengthen me when I am weak, and set me straight when I wander. They bring joy to my heart, share in my joys, and bear with me in my sorrows. Together we sharpen one another, learn from one another, and lean upon one another in the trials of this pilgrimage.
I praise Thee, gracious Lord, that Thou hast made me to need others, and that Thou hast so bountifully provided for that need in the fellowship of Thy saints. What a mercy it is to belong to the household of faith!
Forgive me, Father, when I fail to be the brother I ought to be. Forgive the selfishness that too often fills my mind and causes me to think first of myself rather than others. Create in me a more loving and generous spirit.
Help me this day to be a faithful brother in Christ. Grant me grace to serve my brothers and sisters well, to bear their burdens, and to do good especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

@TruthForLife Repent and believe are the two keystones of the Christian life. Repent and believe and be saved. Repent and believe every day thereafter. And no matter what happens in your walk with Jesus, keep on walking.
Here’s a quote to move your pen. Think about it a minute. Pray about it a minute. Write what comes to mind in your journal.
“Do not expect everything in life to be good. It will not happen. Do not expect everything in yourself to be good. That will not happen either. But what you can expect is this: God will weave everything together for His own beloved children to produce a good result, both in time and for all eternity.” (John MacArthur)

Our friend Irwin wrote something on this day in 1826 that is a great reminder:
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3–4)
O Father in heaven, I thank Thee first of all that Thou art the God of all comfort. In these autumn days of my life, with winter drawing near, I can look back over the years and see it clearly. It has always been true. When I have passed through valleys of pain, loss, and failure, Thou hast been my God of all comfort. Even now it is so. My comfort comes from Thee—always, without fail.
Help me, Lord, to abide in this verse and not stop short of its full meaning. There is a “so that” here. Thou comfortest me so that I may comfort others. The comfort Thou givest me is to be shared. It is the very resource from which I may comfort those who are in any trouble.
Father, show me opportunities this day to live out this truth. Grant that I may share the glorious comfort Thou hast given me with someone who stands in need of it.
In the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
Do you ever read a verse from your Bible that really works on your heart… that you end up thinking about all day? Don’t lose it! Write it! Then, just as going back and reading entries from Farrington’s journals is so helpful, going back and rereading your own past entries will be equally so.
Your story matters! Write it down! Pick up a https://t.co/H1S6ZpWn1u hardcover or leather journal to write it in! Fill it up and place it on your bookshelf. Take it down later and read it! It will bless your soul!

@davidjeremiah I think this is why DAILY spiritual disciplines of Bible, prayer and in my case journaling are so important. When I skip a day, I feel it, and I drift.
