JUST IN: Bank of Namibia cuts repo rate to 6.75%

The Bank of Namibia’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has lowered the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.75% , aiming to balance economic growth with currency stability.

The decision was announced following the MPC’s first bi-monthly meeting of the year, held on February 10–11, 2025.

The central bank's Governor, Johannes !Gawaxab, said the rate cut is intended to support the domestic economy while maintaining the peg between the Namibia Dollar and the South African Rand.

He added that the move follows a thorough assessment of domestic, regional, and global economic conditions.

Namibia has once again achieved the top position for the best road infrastructure in Africa.

According to the latest survey by Statista, the country attained an impressive 5.57 index rating out of 7.
