I briefed the ambassadors of @USEmbassyAddis, @GerEmbAddis, @AmbafranceET, @ItalyinEthiopia, @EUinEthiopia, @UKinEthiopia on the recent developments in Tigray and the challenges the interim administration continues to face in performing its functions. And of course we discussed at length on how to better arrest the deteriorating situation in the region and the efforts all stakeholders to the Pretoria agreement need to avert any relapse to yet another round of devastating war where the involvement of many regional actors with nefarious plans is a distinct possibility. The people of Tigray deserve peace!
Amid fragile security and deteriorating humanitarian conditions, especially in health and nutrition, the people of Irob and Zalambessa in Tigray, Ethiopia, continue to be harassed and intimidated by Eritrean forces, including to forcibly change their identities.
Lasting peace cannot be achieved until people’s basic rights are assured and they are allowed to live freely and autonomously.
Accountability for #warcrimes / mass atrocities in the #war on #Tigray by #Ethiopia & #Eritrea political/military leadership is essential; thus #ICHREE mandate must be prolonged! @UNReliefChief characterised the atrocities in Tigray «a stain on our conscience», let’s act on it!
No International media outlets has broadcasted yesterday's grim press briefing by the International Commission of Human Rights Experts on Ethiopia #ICHREE
🩸War Crimes
🩸Crimes Against Humanity
🩸International Humanitarian Law in #Tigray by Ethiopian, Eritrean and Amhara forces included:
❝Mass killings, rapes, starvation, destructions of schools and medical facilities, forced displacements and mass arbitrary detentions amounting to both War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity. Many of these violations are ongoing, our research confirm that #Eritrean troops and #Amhara Forces & Militia members continue to commit grave violations in Tigray including rape and sexual violence of women and girls. We also documented the continued forced expulsion of #Tigrayans from #WesternTigray with tens of thousands of women, men and children unable to return to their homes.❞

#Ethiopia & #Eritrea are guilty of #TigrayGenocide
…. the commission said human rights violations in Tigray were “grave and ongoing”, and there had been attacks by the Eritrean Defence Forces (EDF) against civilians.
Crimes against humanity continue in Ethiopia despite truce, say UN experts https://t.co/HV0vDZ6vrR via @AJEnglish
Comparing Fano to TDF is like comparing an ant with a horse.
Fano is proficient in killing innocent civilians, hiding behind ENDF, EDF, pretty much useless in conventional combat.
TDF was a highly-trained and disciplined army. It proved its mettle.
In Tigray, we have a traditional steam/smoke that women use for their beauty and health. Under their seat there is fire which has different woods and leaves. Many women say that it has healed them from womb related problems. I am not sure if that is supported by research
US Says Ethiopia, Eritrea Committed Crimes Against Humanity In #Tigray
BREAKING: "Members of the ENDF, EDF and #Amhara forces also committed crimes against humanity including murder, rape and other forms of sexual violence and prosecution," said @SecBlinken. 1/
Protest at the State Department ‼️
Why are we here, because 800k have been killed, 7million are under complete siege and for 870 days the world allowed #TigrayGenocide to continue.
Now Ethiopia is doing everything to escape Accountability and Justice. We Demand #Justice4Tigray
We have seen a terrible civil war in #Ethiopia, particularly in the #Tigray region. Although a peace deal has been signed, it has not been implemented.
I spoke before the House Appropriations Committee on the need to ensure that the #Tigrayan people actually receive U.S. aid.
#Ethiopia:Haile Eyasu is the coach of #Tigray-born athlete Letesenbet Gidey, long-distance runner, holder of 3 world records & 1 world best.Haile was part of the delegation who went to #Mekelle after 2 yrs of separation & learned his mother has died of lack of medicine.

Timeline to the Tigray Genocide
The events leading to the Tigray Genocide have a long root in history. Here we start from the founding of modern Ethiopia by Menelik II who divided the Tigrayan people into two. This is a work in progress.

In #Tigray communications are slowly resuming and also phone lines being restored…
Yes those are good news but World Health Organization says peace process has not yet allowed medical aid to reach all those in need in Ethiopia's northern region.
Gelila Reda of the Tigray Art Collective is a great artist. Her works reflect the trauma of Tigray and feature themes on the natural beauty of Africa.
Gelila is self-taught and never went to art school
In the remote, mountainous regions of North and Central #Tigray, women and girls are being subjected to sexual violence with a level of cruelty BEYOND COMPREHENSION.
