Just got off the phone with my college roommate.
His daughter was diagnosed with leukemia in January.
He has insurance. Good insurance. The kind you feel safe having.
7 months later:
Savings: wiped out. 401k: cashed early. Penalties and all. House: refinanced to cover the gaps insurance decided weren’t their problem.
He told me he’s not the same person anymore.
Said watching your child fight for her life while simultaneously fighting an insurance company over coverage codes does something to you that doesn’t go away.
They did everything right.
Two incomes. No debt. Responsible their whole lives.
One diagnosis undid all of it in 7 months.
And somewhere a health insurance CEO is getting a $30 million bonus this quarter.
I don’t know how people defend this system with a straight face.
I really don’t.
To everyone celebrating the first flight on Qatar Force One today, understand what you are actually applauding.
A foreign government handed the sitting President of the United States a $400 million plane. American taxpayers then paid to retrofit it, with an estimated cost of at least another $400 million (some estimates far higher), for security and communications work in a Texas hangar since last September.
When Trump leaves office, the plane does not stay with the government. Ownership transfers to his presidential library foundation. In other words, he keeps it.
You are being asked to treat pure corruption as normal, to shrug at a President personally profiting from a foreign gift the taxpayers paid to upgrade.
In any other administration this would be the scandal that ends a presidency.
With Trump, it’s Wednesday.

I can’t wait for the day this rambling, incoherent, grievance-addicted, braindead fucking blowhard finally disappears from my news feed and I never have to watch this same pathetic schtick ever again. Amen.
Bob Costas on Trump: "He is by far the most disgraceful figure in modern presidential history.
You have to be in a toxic cult to believe that Trump has ever been emotionally, psychologically, intellectually, or ethically fit to be POTUS." (2024)
Keep posting this so people don’t forget how truly bad this event was.
Don’t let people gaslight you into thinking it was peaceful and worthy of 1500+ pardons and slush fund payoffs.
BREAKING: A reporter ENRAGES Trump by confronting him about wasting time on vanity projects with gas prices through the roof — causing him to unload a tirade about how she can "understand dirt."
Dementia Don is spitting angry now...
"Mr. President, you are here against the backdrop of the war in Iran. Why focus on all these projects right now?" ABC's Rachel Scott asked the President.
"You know why? Because I want to keep our country beautiful and safe," Trump snapped back. "Beautiful also. This place was a disgusting place... It was Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and we had uh— Uh— A terrible..."
"I don't know. You probably don't see dirt, but I do. And you walk down this pond. If you would have walked down, they'll tell you better than anybody..." he continued. "They had to take eleven or twelve truckloads of garbage out of that lake, out of that water, and it sat there for years like that. And that's not what our country's about. Our country's about beauty, cleanliness, safety, great people, not a filthy capital.
"What is the status of—" Scott attempted.
"It's such a stupid question you ask," said Trump. "We're fixing up. The Reflecting pond to the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and you say, why are you fixing it up? Because you can understand dirt maybe better than I can, but I don't allow it."
"This is one of the worst reporters," he went, visibly enraged. "She's with ABC Fake News, and she's a horror show. She's saying, why would you bother fixing this up? Why would I bother taking eleven or twelve truckloads of filth out of the water in front of the Lincoln Monument?"
"That's what made our country great," he added. "Beauty made our country. People made our country great. A question like that is a disgrace to our country. Any other questions? Fake News."
Even by Trumpian standards, this was an insane outburst. Clearly, Scott struck a nerve because on some level Trump knows how deeply unpopular his D.C. "renovations" are with the American people.
As for Scott's question, the reason that Trump is focused on his "projects" instead of his disastrous Iran War and its rippling effects is because actually governing bores him. He lacks the intelligence, patience, and attention span to do the hard work of the presidency. Building and renovations are something that his simple mind can understand — even if his aesthetic tastes are awful.
Please ❤️ and share if you oppose Trump's vanity projects!
2022: “Stop overreacting, they won’t overturn Roe.”
They did.
2023: “Stop overreacting, they won’t let women die rather than get an abortion.”
They did.
2024: “Stop overreacting, they won’t arrest women for miscarriages.”
They did.
2025: “Stop overreacting, they won’t turn women into incubators.”
They did.
2026: “Stop overreacting, they won’t attack mifepristone.”
They did, today.
Now: “Stop overreacting, they won’t go after birth control next.”
They will.
Fox Host Jessica Tarlov responds to the “but their rhetoric” criticisms:
You say Democrats went out and called Donald Trump a threat to democracy. Absolutely. The guy still doesn't accept the 2020 results, and a majority of the party doesn't as a consequence of the fact that he continued to proliferate that lie.
Republicans who are out there criticizing Democrats right now are the ones who run from reporters in the hallways when Donald Trump has done something absurd, like celebrate Rob Reiner's death, or say Bob Mueller, good riddance.
You said you could run through things that Democrats have said? Donald Trump has said: enemy within, communist, marxist, radical thugs, vermin, sick, party of hate, evil..
The official White House account just posted this:
“TWO KINGS.”
Let that sink in.
This isn’t a meme page.
This is the executive branch of the United States.
We don’t have kings.
We don’t do crowns.
We don’t do this shit.
We have a Constitution.
And the moment the people in power start joking about monarchy…
is the moment you should start asking whether they’re actually joking.
Because history has a very clear pattern:
Power doesn’t announce itself as tyranny.
It eases in as symbolism first.
Call it “harmless” if you want.
But this is how lines get blurred—and once they’re gone, they don’t magically come back.
My family and I watched the 60 Minutes interview with Donald Trump and Norah O’Donnell last night, and we were shocked. Seeing a president speak to a woman journalist with that level of contempt — and a clear allergy to facts — is disturbing, though at this point not unexpected given his pattern of behavior.
But that is the problem. Because when that level of disrespect from the highest office in the country repeats itself, it starts to trickle down into our culture and define what power looks like, shaping how boys and plenty of men see women and girls and what they come to accept as normal behavior.
Not once have I considered this guy a President. He’s a failed businessman, a rapist, a traitor, a warmonger, a liar, a cheat, a racist…..
and a pedophile
I woke up this morning questioning my every moral standings. I found myself in an absolute panic. It’s not about trump anymore, it’s about us. Are we the most immoral of people in the world to allow this to continue? Trump should be dragged out of the White House.
Christie: I think anyone that follows politics can tell there are no principles left in my party. Even for people who agree with some of the stuff the president is doing, if you are honest with yourself, you know it is not based on principle. He wakes up every morning and tries to figure out, what is the best thing for him to do in his self interest that day.
But the real lack of principle is on display every day in the House and Senate. These people have become lemmings.
