It’s getting really tiring to constantly hear how “degenerate” our current society is when actually we’re pretty prudish.
The ancients were having orgies and recording them on pottery. Some of the oldest known cave paintings are pornographic and there’s ancient temples built entirely around sex.
And you’re hearing these young men, quite literally, say the “downfall” of society is women having sex?
Like, what?
Aside from the Victorian era I don’t think there’s been a time where people have been this prudish.
Too much sexual regression produces the opposite effect actually. 😬
Gut inflammation and fatty organs lead to bad posture.
Feels good to engage your core while standing/walking; adds power to your gait + posture.
But it’s very uncomfortable to flex your abdominals when, right underneath, there are swollen, fatty, oversized organs pushing back!!
the older I get the more I see there are some people who haven't really experienced anything
no travel, no trauma, no death, no joy, no deep heartbreak, no unbearable pain, no jarring upheaval, nothing to alchemize them into lucid, interesting, empathetic human beings
just their little worlds with the same stuff over and over again on repeat. school, job, marriage, kids. they go to work, they come home. that's their life. period.
if you're an interesting person you must avoid the uninteresting people
If you crave deep fried foods regularly, I think that’s a sign something is wrong and your body is degenerating.
Either you have a fat soluble vitamin deficiency or your FFAs are elevated and your cells cannot oxidize sugar.
Yuck.
Junk food for kids:
Mostly sugar with gelatin.
(sucrose pleiotropy, insulin sensitive, high capacity for glucose oxidation)
Junk food for adults:
Mostly grease, paired with beer for extra liver damage.
(crave fat as a source of fuel; loss of insulin sensitivity, marker of aging)
No matter how many times I say there is no “Ray Peat Diet” and that I don’t follow one, people just don’t get it. There’s no magic list of foods you must eat or avoid to be healthy…Ray Peat’s work is just a guide and there’s more to health than diet.
If you find a better way to reduce stress and boost metabolism, do that. Ray changed his mind about many foods over his life. The fact he wasn’t a buff surfer dude or didn’t live to 114 doesn’t matter. His understanding of biology was next level, and his insights can be life-changing.
But if all you do is blindly follow what you think are his dietary rules, you might or might not do well. Either way, you’re just a follower, and your metabolism…will reflect that.
Underrated truth is that having energy gives you the power to feel. Nobody does anything without a powerful feeling connected to an idea. Feelings are probably right there with thyroid and CO2 in driving the organism. After all, intuition is feeling and thinking joining together.
