@MikeParcej@leemottershead This is very true. Even when you get rid of dress codes having different enclosures puts people off. Owners by all means but after that it's nonsense...you can pay more for better seats like a concert but not a class driven division...drives me mad
@RacingPost Lastly, the decline in entries and runners has been very similar in chase and hurdle races from mid 2000's onwards. Does this mean all of racing is in decline as the Irish are dominant but race day numbers are dropping??
@RacingPost It's a similar situation 2015-2018. Entries in the low 20/21 range and runners in the 10's all 4 years. I'm not sure why you think field sizes are collapsing...it's held relatively steady for the last decade. The business is very different from 25 years ago
@RacingPost In fairness, the number of average runners is only down from 10.7 in 2019 to 10.5 in 2023. Entries down from 21.8 to 20 but that figure fluctuates a bit anyway.. 'collapsing' seems a bit extreme. The dominance of the big yards is an issue though but that's the same in all races
@tony_calvin@AKBets Hugh Cahill is getting a bit big for his boots. Doubling down on a pregnant woman about the father wasn't the greatest look and now ranting on about fatalities. Fact is a lot of people don't like animals being hurt and like it even less when it's rich people running them for fun
@ChrisPoole___ Reminds me of the old joke...well fancied horse runs terrible, jockey helpfully remarks that horse made a noise down the back straight. Owner asks what noise was that? 'Ee Aw' replies jockey
@icyestretro And this is why you have small fields in G1s. If it's a smaller trainer why bother taking a chance for some prize money if it lessens your chance of winning a race. The big owners don't care too much because between them there's enough to go round
@ScottG19912019 To be honest most punditry is rubbish. You could take your average person who's relatively knowledgeable and they'd do as well. They should be used for explaining and informing about tracks, race riding etc
