Protestants built an entire system on the phrase “faith alone.”
Small problem:
The only time the Bible ever uses that phrase —
James 2:24 —
it says we are “not justified by faith alone.”
Awkward.
The apostles preached faith working through love.
Paul said he could have faith to move mountains and still be nothing without charity.
Jesus said obedience matters.
John said we’re judged by our works.
Peter said baptism saves.
The slogan isn’t biblical.
The Bible isn’t the slogan.

In his homily, Cardinal Re delved into the many highlights of his remarkable and intense 12 years of Petrine Ministry, marked by his style of closeness to the people and spontaneity of his actions until the very end, but most importantly, his deep love for the Church.

This #HolyWeek, our #DailyMeditations invite us into loving surrender.
God, if Jesus is right, has chosen to descend — in almost total counterpoint with our humanity that is always trying to climb, achieve, perform, and prove itself. https://t.co/5G5XpVcgGK
