When it comes to remembering the presentations 10 minutes later, only 5% of the audience can recall any individual statistic, but 63% of the audience could remember the stories.
I see lots of people present data backward. i.e. throwing a chart on the slide and say "as you can see on this chart", only to see people confused as to what they have to see there.
I always try to add a storytelling aspect to it. There are a couple of useful frameworks that work for me:
