Wanyange Girls Secondary School is one of the Girls only schools in Eastern Uganda committed at the integration of Chess into the Co-Curriculum activities of it's students.

With this zeal, it has encouraged parents to support schools into having their students compete at the top levels.

At the Eastern Uganda Region Chess Championship, each of the players won an accolade in their respective categories.

We appreciate the great work done by Headmistress - Mrs Basekanakyo Deborah - Wanyange Girls SS. She is an OG of Namasagali College who played chess under the stewardship of the Late Fr. Damian Grimes

He played in the inaugural Eastern Uganda Region Chess Championship 2026 held at Source of the Nile Hotel, Jinja.

His formerly the 2024 Bungoma Open Chess Championship Champion in Kenya.

He hails from Butaleja District - Uganda.
