Oh, is #TransmascCreators a tag today??
I'm a cosplayer and musician (violist, to be exact!) who loves making things and having fun doing it.
(And it's harder to share music here vs photos, but, I do have a Bandcamp link for my filk duo!) https://t.co/HXnOQNLUU8
I’m so serious, if you can learn to love bugs, you will find wonder under every leaf and stone. Your world suddenly becomes filled with even more reasons to be curious.
I hear ya, @LakeSuperior. Climate change isn’t just a coastal problem – our Great Lakes are at risk too.
But we aren’t hopeless. The clean energy transition is coming, and Minnesota is going to lead the way.
I cannot fathom how many lives it would change if he pushed for something like this at the federal level. So, keeping in mind that we have to vote up and down the ballot as well as keep the pressure on our elected officials once folks are in office, let's make it happen.
I'm glad to see posts circulating listing some of the significant legislation Tim Walz has supported as governor of Minnesota, but there's one I haven't seen mentioned yet--the North Star Promise program, aka the reason I can afford to finish my Bachelor's degree.
A lot had to happen to make a program like this possible--activists had to push for it, Minnesota had to vote in a Dem majority in the state legislature to pass it, and we had to have a governor willing to sign it into law--but it's still significant Walz put his name on it.
Every list of progressive achievements during the Walz administration needs to be followed with a reminder that organizers worked for those wins, for years.
You can do it in your state, too. It’s about people shifting power and pushing for change.
My favorite thing about Walz is that when faced w/ a slim democratic majority, he didn't shy away from our party's values.
Too often, politicians fail to govern out of fear of the next election. But Walz championed progressive policies again & again.
So happy he's the VP pick!
Some of the policies Walz signed into law in Minnesota:
-Universal school meals
-Stronger labor protections
-Cannabis legalization
-Stronger LGBTQ+ protections
-paid leave/sick
-100% clean energy by 2030
-repro rights
-$1B for housing
-gun safety
-cut child poverty 1/3

@BradleyNealEnv I've actually been really fortunate to live in a US state (Minnesota) where trans healthcare is covered by state insurance (which I am on, as a poor student). Very very lucky, and one reason I like where I am.
I wish you the best of luck with your own transition!
