We're looking forward to joining @mms_Blockchain at Berlin Blockchain Week next month!
It's going to be a great day of talking about the future of our industry 🚀
BlackRock's CEO thinks compute will become a tradable asset. CME Group has just announced the first contracts.
We've written about why this is happening, and why pricing the shortage is not the same as solving it.

Theta EdgeCloud is the first decentralised compute platform approved by @AWS to run their custom AI silicon. We did it in collaboration with @yonsei_u, one of Asia's top AI research institutions. 🧵
Professor Yong Zheng's lab at @illinoistech is now using Theta EdgeCloud for research in personalization, recommender systems, and human-centric AI. Our 33rd university.🧵
Your GPU has idle hours. Theta EdgeCloud puts them to work on jobs consumer hardware handles well: inference, fine-tuning, batch processing, video tasks.

Theta EdgeCloud is now on https://t.co/oljf6fuiTG, a comparison site that puts 15 cloud GPU providers side by side in one table. Filter by GPU, VRAM, price and find the right fit for your AI workload. No more bouncing between dashboards to compare rates.
According to research out this week, GPU prices have risen 15% in four months. The RTX 5090 is up 31%. There's no single fix for the compute crunch, but the fact that billions of devices worldwide sit idle suggests we're not looking at the full picture.

Excited to share that @Theta_Network’s joint research with Prof. Xiao @ZhenXiaoCornell’s team has been accepted by IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS) — the flagship IEEE journal in distributed systems and parallel computing! 🎉
📄 Nexus: A Novel Transaction Processing Framework for Permissioned Blockchain
Check out the paper here: https://t.co/60ZxQgc0tT
IEEE TPDS is a premier venue for high-impact research in distributed systems, cloud computing, and scalable infrastructure. We’re proud to contribute to advancing the performance foundations of next-generation blockchain systems.
Our paper addresses a critical issue in modern permissioned blockchains which adopt Shared Memory Pools (SMP) to decouple the transaction distribution from the consensus process. While this effectively utilizes idle bandwidth and allows more transactions to be confirmed in a single consensus round, it introduces two critical limitations:
— It shifts the performance bottleneck from the consensus layer to the transaction execution layer. When transaction execution is considered, throughput drops to only 5% to 10% of their reported values, and latency increases by 2×–3×.
— SMP-based protocols suffer from the “transaction duplication” attack, where malicious clients send the same transaction to multiple consensus nodes, causing throughput to drop significantly in the worst case.
To address these limitations, we propose Nexus, a novel blockchain transaction processing framework with high scalability. The key novelties include:
— Nexus decouples transaction execution from consensus and leverages the idle computational resources of full nodes, which enable transaction pre-execution in parallel with consensus;
— Allows each node to handle only a fraction of the total transactions;
— Introduces a transaction partitioning mechanism based on consistent hashing to tackle the transaction duplication attack and achieve load balancing.
In Nexus, full nodes pre-execute block substructures in parallel and generate a set of state modifications awaiting final confirmation. Through the feedback on execution mechanism, consensus nodes collect results from a sufficient number of full nodes to ensure correctness while significantly reducing the number of transactions each consensus node must execute.
📈 Experimental results show:
• Throughput increases by 4× to 15×
• Latency reduced by 50% to 70%
• Superior performance even under malicious node attacks
To the best of our knowledge, Nexus is the first framework that decouples transaction execution from consensus in permissioned blockchains adopting SMP-based BFT protocols.
As always, @Theta_Network remains committed to advancing the foundations of scalable, AI-ready blockchain infrastructure — bridging distributed systems research with real-world decentralized applications. More breakthroughs ahead. 🌐
