Today was disappointing.
Not because a bill failed, but because South Carolinians lost the opportunity to buy ivermectin over the counter after consulting with a pharmacist—a bill that had already passed the House and Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support.
@JayforHouse85 deserves a tremendous amount of credit. He worked tirelessly to move this bill through the House, accepted compromises when necessary, worked with the Senate, and built a coalition to get it across the finish line. @SCFreedomCaucus members stood shoulder to shoulder with him because we believed this was good policy and something the people of South Carolina wanted.
A couple of things are worth pointing out.
• A majority of House Republicans (37) voted NOT to kill the bill. Only 31 Republicans joined Democrats to send it back to committee.
• Several Republicans who voted to kill the bill today voted for it just two months ago. The legislation was amended along the way—as most bills are—but its core purpose remained the same. What changed wasn't the bill. It was the political calendar.
As disappointing as today was, I actually feel encouraged.
I'm encouraged by the Republican House Caucus members who, despite pressure to change their vote, stood their ground. They didn't vote to keep this bill alive because they wanted to help the Freedom Caucus. They voted to keep it alive because they believed it was the right thing to do for the people they represent.
This is what I mean when I say Republicans need to come together.
There will always be people in every caucus who want to keep the drama alive because it benefits them politically. There will always be personalities, hurt feelings, and reasons to keep fighting each other.
But there are also good conservatives in both caucuses who care more about advancing conservative policy than winning internal political battles.
Those are the members I'm encouraged by today.
I am honored to have the endorsement of President Donald J. Trump. President Trump has fought harder than anyone to secure our border, restore American strength, drain the swamp, protect our freedoms, and put working families first.
As South Carolina’s Attorney General, I have been proud to stand with him in that fight. I defended President Trump’s executive orders. I backed his America First cabinet. I fought back against the Left’s lawfare and political prosecutions. I defended election integrity. I took the Biden Administration to court when they tried to force their woke, unconstitutional agenda on South Carolina.
And I never backed down.
When President Trump needed fighters, I was in the fight. Now, I am running for Governor to keep South Carolina strong, conservative, and free. Thank you, President Trump. I am grateful for your support and I am ready to keep fighting for South Carolina.
Senator @WesClimer is a leading voice for judicial reform, and I've been advocating for it for years. I'm grateful for his support.
As Governor, SC will restore equal power to all three branches of government and clean up the lawyer-legislator influence over our judiciary.
Vote Alan Wilson on June 23. Let's finish the job.
Thank you, Mr. President! It’s an honor to have earned your support, and I’m ready to get to work in Congress to deliver results for the America First Agenda!
I am proud to ENDORSE Wes Climer for Congress. He is a dedicated husband, father, business owner, and State Senator. He has a strong record of fighting for lower taxes and eliminating wasteful spending. Wes will bring that same passion to Congress and fight for Trump’s America First agenda. I look forward to working with him to always put COMMON SENSE over CRAZY! 🇺🇸
Wes Climer is a conservative America First patriot who will help us continue to deliver safe streets, secure borders, a strong economy, and peace through strength. As a financial advisor and state senator, Wes will also bring his experience to Congress to defend the principles that have made America the greatest nation on Earth. I am proud to ENDORSE Wes Climer for South Carolina's 5th District, and look forward to working with him to defend and grow our House Republican majority and CONTINUE our American comeback! 🇺🇸
One of yesterday’s big announcements: We’re fast-tracking (at TRUMP SPEED!) American fertilizer production like never before.
In Louisiana alone, we are streamlining permitting to build the largest ammonia plant in the world — CF Industries, a great American company! This is happening nationwide, with over 50+ projects.
Our goal: end our reliance on foreign fertilizer from Russia, Ukraine, China & others. And produce 100% of America’s fertilizer here at home.
American energy + American food security = America First in action!🇺🇸
Three major steps we announced today to strengthen American fertilizer production and support our farmers and ranchers. 🇺🇸 🚜
1️⃣ The Blue Point Project in Louisiana is moving at “Trump speed.”
Within 45 days, permitting is expected to wrap up for a $3.7 BILLION ammonia plant that will become the world’s largest ammonia plant — creating hundreds of jobs and strengthening America’s fertilizer supply chain.
2️⃣ Trump's USDA is fixing Biden’s broken Fertilizer Production Expansion Program and getting projects over the finish line.
When we inherited the program, only 8 of 121 projects had reached completion. Many were stalled by red tape and climate mandates instead of focused on fertilizer production.
We are now working directly with every awardee to move high-impact projects forward — including:
✅ An $80 million Washington state project expected to produce 700,000 tons annually of hydrogen ammonia fertilizer and support 200+ jobs
✅ A $3.89 million Iowa project expanding domestic organic fertilizer production
Together, these projects are expected to unlock over 2 million tons of new annual fertilizer capacity, support 61,000 producers, cover 30 million additional acres, and create more than 500 jobs.
3️⃣ USDA is increasing transparency for farmers.
Effective immediately, we are searching for a full-time input economist dedicated to tracking input costs and improving market transparency so we can better support America’s farmers and ranchers.
All-in, the projects announced today are expected to increase domestic fertilizer production by approximately 4.5 million tons per year — serving roughly 400,000 producers and 290 million acres of farmland.
This is an important step toward reshoring fertilizer production and putting American agriculture first again.
Student Privacy in SC was signed by Governor McMaster yesterday!!!! Thank you to everyone for all their efforts to get this across the finish line! @tommypopeSC@WesClimer
I beat Strom Thurmond’s son in a majority-white district for a seat in Congress.
Then won statewide in South Carolina, a majority white state.
South Carolina elects leaders based on ideas, not identity. Stop erasing reality to rig the game.
The Small Business Regulatory Freedom Act is on the move 🚀
H.3021 just passed the Senate UNANIMOUSLY - a huge step forward in the fight to reduce burdensome regulations and increase accountability in state government.
The bill now heads back to the House, and we’re going to keep pushing until it reaches the Governor’s desk. South Carolina’s job creators deserve a regulatory system that supports opportunity, not one that stands in the way.
Gail has been running a small business in South Carolina for 13 years. Like so many others, she’s dealt with layer after layer of red tape along the way.
This National Small Business Week, the Senate has a chance to help. H.3021 would bring more accountability to the regulatory process and ensure major rules get real oversight from elected lawmakers.
Small business owners like Gail are counting on it 👇
⚖️🇺🇸MAJOR UPDATE: @POTUS ordered @TheJusticeDept to launch an immediate investigation into the Big Four meatpackers for collusion and price manipulation late last year.
America’s ranchers face historic challenges — cattle herds at 1950s lows, over 100,000 ranches lost in the last 10 years, and 85% of beef processing dominated by just four firms (with half being foreign-owned).
Alongside @DAGToddBlanche, @RealPNavarro, and the entire @TheJusticeDept, we’re putting forward short- and long-term solutions through the @USDA Beef Plan and a major DOJ investigation into anti-competitive practices ordered by @POTUS.
Food security is national security.🇺🇸
.@SecRollins: "Half of these meatpacking giants, including the largest meat packer in the world, are either foreign-owned or have significant foreign ownership and control, making them a threat not just to our cattle producers, but a threat to America itself."
🧑🌾 South Carolina farmers are facing dire straits - $700 million in crop losses over the last two years, pervasive drought conditions and rising fuel & fertilizer costs. @WesClimer has introduced a budget proviso to give them some assistance. Our report... https://t.co/wPMiU1Hnff
Thank you to everyone in Winnsboro who came out last night. Strong community, great conversation, and a shared commitment to moving South Carolina forward.
Confidence in elections is one of the foundations of a healthy republic. When citizens walk into a polling place, they should know that every lawful vote will be counted and that the rules governing the process apply equally to everyone. That confidence is strengthened when the law is clear and the safeguards are simple. Congress now has an opportunity to reinforce that confidence through the SAVE Act, legislation designed to ensure that only United States citizens are registered to vote in federal elections.
At its core, the proposal addresses a straightforward principle.
Voting in American elections is a right reserved for American citizens. That has always been the understanding of our law and our constitutional system.
Yet the mechanisms used to verify citizenship at the point of voter registration have not always been as clear or consistent as they should be.
The SAVE Act would establish a uniform standard by requiring documentary proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections.
It would also require election officials to maintain procedures that verify voter eligibility against existing records.
Supporters of the bill, including President Donald Trump, have emphasized that the purpose is not to restrict legitimate voters but to strengthen the credibility of the process itself.
When election rules are transparent and consistently enforced, the public’s trust in the outcome increases.
That trust is essential in a country as politically competitive as ours.
Critics often raise concerns that any additional verification requirement could create barriers for eligible voters.
Election laws should always be designed with care to ensure that qualified citizens are able to participate without unnecessary difficulty.
At the same time, the responsibility of government is to balance accessibility with integrity.
The public must have confidence that the system protects both.
The SAVE Act addresses that balance by relying on documentation that citizens already possess, such as a passport, a birth certificate, or other official records demonstrating citizenship.
In doing so, it seeks to reinforce a rule that most Americans already believe should be obvious: participation in federal elections is limited to citizens of the United States.
That principle should not be controversial.
South Carolina requires identification at the polls and has built a reputation for orderly election administration.
The SAVE Act builds on that same philosophy at the federal level.
It affirms that protecting the integrity of the ballot is not about partisan advantage but about maintaining the credibility of the system itself.
When citizens believe the rules are fair and fairly enforced, they are more accepting of the results, even when their preferred candidate loses.
That is the hallmark of a functioning democracy.
The American system depends not only on the right to vote but also on the shared understanding that the process is legitimate.
Laws like the SAVE Act are intended to reinforce that understanding by making the rules clear and the standards consistent.
Reasonable people can debate the details of election administration.
But the underlying goal should be to preserve public confidence in the institutions that allow our republic to function.
The right to vote is precious.
Protecting the integrity of that right is a responsibility we all share.
I enjoyed being in Lancaster speaking with the South Carolina Constitutional Conservatives. Grateful for the engagement and the strong commitment to conservative principles.
