"The person who is slow to draw near to God because of sin or doubt is the person who will not find hope. ...in pulling back from the Lord and the means of grace, we deny ourselves access to the primary way in which God speaks to our hearts and lives."
If the Jews build another temple in Jerusalem, it will have no eschatological significance.
It would, however, be another sign of their blasphemous rejection of Christ and attempt to live in the shadows.
Christians are the temple of God—a living-stone-dwelling-place for God.
@TheLovingPastor I’ll ask the Lord to throw in some huntin’ land so you can rest between revival meetings, and for a Box Blind Bible Study ministry. The deer are moving and so is the Lord!
@CameronDula Learning is hard work. It’s easier to “preach” on the same three topics (Mama’s prayers for her lost youngins, Merica, Modern Perversions of Scripture) regardless of the text. 10 points for the alliteration?
which they may hang over and doat upon. They rather aim at experiences within them than at Christ who is without them.” William Cudsworth- Looking to the Cross
This book is full of the reminder Christ is the object of our faith, not the faith itself. Good job @CameronDula!
“True faith is what may be called colorless, like air or water, it is but the medium through which the soul sees Christ and the soul as little rests on it and contemplates it as the eye can see the air. When men are bent on holding it, as it were… 1/3
in their hands curiously inspecting, analyzing, and so aiming at it, they are obliged to color and thicken it that it may be seen and touched. That is, they substitute for [faith] a feeling, notion, sentiment, conviction, an act of reason or something else…. 2/3
Now that I got a little sleep, I want to send a message to my Never Trumper Christian brothers like @BenZeisloft.
One of the arguments for not voting for Trump and Kamala is that they will both be a "judgement" on our nation, rightly deserved. We have both of them as options because we are indeed under judgement.
That is true. Trump could be a judgement on our nation. The people who are advising him on Abortion and IVF are most certainly deep state RINOs. And he is wrong to listen to them.
But now that whatever the providence of God in getting him elected is in play, I would like to suggest a third option.
It is also possible that God spared us from something much, much worse. The tendency among evangelicals is to say "Lord, bring on your judgement so that non-believers stop reaping judgement on themselves." or even "The blood of the Martyrs is the Seed of the Church."
I don't think either of these assumes an optimistic view of the Church Victorious.
The other option is that God spared the Church from a time of hiding, granting us four more years (and maybe an addition 8-12 years post Trump) to grow and strengthen. I believe during COVID he clearly sifted through and strengthened the American church already.
What God has done since 2020 is made fertile the soil and prepared a harvest. Now he's giving us time to grow.
In 2020 Christians begged God to spare them. Covid, Biden, and the events that took place over the current four years absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, made the Church strong.
So now, we should stop acting like dispensationalist, anxiously awaiting God's coming wrath, and instead actually believe the Scriptures that God is growing his church in unbelievable ways the earth has never seen.
It might not happen. But we are not called to assume the worst. We believe in a God who is an amazing storyteller who is going to grow his Church throughout all the ends of earth, in ways we don't see coming or expect.
Again, this is not to say that Trump is the messiah, or even a Christian king, or that he has saved our nation in any religious sense.
It's just to assume God gave us time for our good, and the good of unbelievers.
Now is a time to rejoice in God's mercy. For we were not like Lot, because there were indeed righteous men in our nation who believed, and God spared us.
Joe Rogan’s podcast episodes are normally a couple hours long.
It’s the number one podcast across most platforms.
The largest demographic 18-55 year olds.
Stop telling pastors their sermons are too long because millennials and zoomers have an attention problem.
It’s false.
Despite the fact that @Queen_City_News felt the need to post a disclaimer before @randallterry‘s ad, I am thankful there is a presidential candidate who has the gumption to stand and declare that abortion is murder with zero exceptions. That is what it means to be truly pro life
1/ Christian,
Despite what the “actually Jesus would be fine with the homo industrial complex diddling children in front of 1/8th of the world’s population” corner of Christianity is telling you -
What was the point of Christ commissioning the conquest of the world, on the grounds of His universal authority, if He has yet to "pick up that authority"? Would seem a false hope. A deceitful order with no authority or hope.
There’s a day coming when the plots of the wicked shall come crashing down on their own heads.
A day of judgment, when Haman and his family will be swinging from the gallows he built in dark malice for others (Esther 7).
The righteous will inherit the land (Psalm 37:29).
@Matt_Estes_ One of the mean ones that “spray bullets” and hurt feelings. They’ve been known to decimate entire cities. One bullet is more powerful than Fat Man and Little Boy combined. Twice.
