The fact that the stabbings at the University of Waterloo were hate-motivated is absolutely despicable. I strongly condemn this vile act. It is another reminder that we can never let misogynistic, anti-2SLGBTQI+ rhetoric escalate – because these words have real-life consequences.
This is ultimately a product of city policy. I don’t even care whose responsibility it is to clear it, but it’s the city’s responsibility that our sidewalks are useable.
Despite the evidence that privately delivered surgeries have higher death rates, worse outcomes, higher costs and bleed staff away from the public system, the Ford government has introduced legislation today. Our job now is to battle like never before for the public system.
Normally on Jan 1 I post all the works that just entered into the public domain in Canada, and if you're looking for that: surprise, we get none! Our government quietly changed our copyright law from 50 years to 70 years in June. We get no new public domain works until 2043.
@404Mate@adumont@MigaIsNotACat@winocm Er, not quite: .DS_Store is used to store Finder’s view settings for the containing folder. Doesn’t have anything to do with the file system itself, and it’s just as present on APFS drives as it was on HFS+.
@DLX@fatbobman Oh, yeah, I didn't mean to imply otherwise. It mostly makes sense what they're doing here. The hilarious-to-me part is the bug with how it keeps trying to do this even after the SwiftUI Stepper has been removed from the view, and how it behaves when this bug is triggered.
@DLX@fatbobman When you add a lower bound of zero, it seems that it stops processing events on the - half of the invisible tap area after hitting that limit and being removed, but as soon as you slide your touch across into the + area, it tries to start incrementing again and crashes.
@DLX@fatbobman This touch event capture (which is happening on the UIKit level) continues to exist as long as you hold down the tap, even after the SwiftUI Stepper is removed from the view (and consequently the binding _should_ be invalid).
Just so we are clear, @fordnation is trying to ruin the health care system in Ontario so people get so desperate that they think privatization will be better.
In case you weren’t paying attention, a bunch of reactionaries have made our local public school board in Waterloo Region a culture war battleground. They want schools to pretend racism doesn’t exist and to make schools unsafe for LGBT kids. Don’t let them!
I'm tuning in to a local far-right meeting focused on education and the school board in Waterloo Region. Speakers include Carolyn Burjoski, David Haskell, and trustee Mike Ramsay. Ahmed Kassad is MCing but apparently not on the behalf of his campaign. (He's running for trustee)
@danbrotherston It’s also distorted by perceived expectations: the things that don’t happen could in fact be more profitable. But capitalism is inefficient at figuring that out. Strategies are chosen by what people *think* will be more profitable, often based on limited or flawed data.
man goes to bertrand russell. says he hates his beard but will not shave it. russell says "treatment is simple. great barber pagliacci is in town. he will shave all men (and only those men) who will not shave themselves." man bursts into tears. "but bertrand,"
