@UDOTTRAFFIC I don't want to minimize the tragedy of this incident, but the mechanism that updates this Twitter feed seems to be broken. Hundreds of people are stuck in cars with no idea as to what is going on. Some with kids and I'm guessing others with more serious needs.

A task force of the State, Salt Lake County, cities, providers, and individuals with lived experience, co-chaired by Mayor Silvestrini and Mayor Wilson, came together earlier than ever before to identify winter shelter needs and establish potential solutions early enough to address the gaps we have identified in our collaborative process.

Today the aspirational Salt Lake County Winter Response Plan was submitted to the State. The State Office of Homeless Services will now review it over the next 10 days, and then provide an update. The task ahead is figuring out a way to secure the funding to fulfill the plan’s goals.

I’m so thankful for the partnership of our colleagues and I look forward to the continued work ahead.
