Guy stuck in a time loop but it’s only day 5. He’s trying to predict what people are about to say but he doesn’t have it fully memorized yet and keeps getting it slightly wrong
there’s just no world in which i don’t get absolutely demolished this week (he has a pending trade to get Zay Flowers for Mike Evans and two of his bench players too 🫠)
Curtis Mead ranks among the 69 RHH with at least 300 PA
Pull%: 11th (48.4%)
GB%: 19th-lowest (37.0%)
BB%: 12th (11.5%)
K%: 24th (19.3%)
xWOBA: 11th (.359)
This is a very good addition
@ewofewif Sometimes to get an unqualified player on rate stat leaderboards they’ll add empty PAs to their totals, so it’s like “If Rushing were to go hitless in his next X PAs, he’d be qualified and his OPS would then be 186th.” Not sure if that’s the case here but that’s how BBRef does it
Alec Bohm is suing his parents, per @njvadala
The Phillies third baseman is alleging they mismanaged his finances, and he seeks judgement of $3 million
"Mr. and Mrs. Bohm love their son very much... They're deeply saddened by the allegations."
@EdHand89 I think a trade built around Duran for Freddy Peralta and Jared Koenig makes a lot of sense for both teams.
At that point it would require some payroll shedding (I’d be inclined to move Bello) to acquire a Bregman/Bichette tier bat and stay under their $264MM limit
Going to miss Dobbins, but quite frankly we have an embarrassment of starting pitching depth that we needed to get rid of somehow. Contreras is a great pickup that solves so many issues for us. Wish you well Dobbins🫡
Right-hander Hunter Dobbins is the headliner in the package going back to St. Louis for Willson Contreras, sources tell ESPN. The Cardinals additionally will be receiving minor league arms in the deal.
If they really want Marte, they could use Pepiot and some other prospects to get it done. But if any of the remaining starters struggle or go down to injury, it could get ugly fast. Pepiot provides TB with some stability and flexibility that I think is much more valuable to them
I don’t think TB will trade for Ketel Marte, mainly because their rotation couldn’t withstand the hit that his addition would require if AZ wants MLB-ready pitching. They COULD do it, but it would likely take Pepiot, making their rotation:
Rasmussen
McClanahan
Matz
Boyle
Seymour
It’s a group with a lot of upside, but also MAJOR durability concerns from Rasmussen and McClanahan, while Boyle and Seymour have less than a full season’s worth of innings in their careers combined, and Matz hasn’t been a full-time starter in years.
@JohnnyFontane1 Yes, and Jovani Moran shouldn’t be slotted in to one of those spots when he only pitched 4 subpar innings last year. So it would be in the organization’s best interest to find another option
Big hit to Red Sox LHRP depth today: both Murphy and Bernardino are gone in trades
Wilson and Matz are free agents, meaning the only LHRPs still on the roster are Chapman and Jovani Moran (pitched 4 innings last year). Definitely gonna need something more in that area.
Trade: the Red Sox have traded LHP Chris Murphy to the Chicago White Sox, according to @BNightengale.
Murphy pitched very well out of the bullpen this year for the Red Sox. Perhaps he’ll get a chance to transition back into a starter in Chicago.
@Dunkintern i don’t think it’s impossible. very unlikely, but there’s a world where a full year of anthony/casas/mayer creates a stronger offense than 2025. gray/oviedo/early should be better than giolito/buehler/newcomb. that being said, if they bank on all this, that’s unacceptable
