Happy International Women’s Day. While we celebrate women’s strength and achievements, we must remember that Afghan women are still barred from their basic rights. Wishing all women freedom, dignity, and success.

In northern Afghanistan’s earthquake, women are the biggest victims. Yet the Taliban refuse to let male doctors treat them, and women doctors are banned from working. Even in disaster, Afghan women are denied help and left to suffer.

August 15, 2021 — the day darkness fell on Afghan women and girls. Since then, they have been silenced, erased, and denied the most basic human right: education. But their courage, resilience, and hope remain unbroken. #Afghanistan#LetAfghanGirlsLearn#WomensRights
1,414 days.
That’s how long it’s been since August 15, 2021—when the Taliban seized Kabul and began banning Afghan girls from secondary and higher education.
Many countries have recently aligned themselves with the United Nations in seeking cooperation with the #Taliban, turning a blind eye to the ongoing suffering of over 13 million women and girls in #Afghanistan. This growing normalization of engagement with a regime that systematically erases women from public life is not only deeply unjust, but it also sends a dangerous message—that the rights and voices of #Afghan_women can be negotiated away for political convenience. The silence and inaction of the international community have become louder than the cries for justice echoing from behind the closed doors of classrooms, offices, and dreams that are no longer allowed to exist.

WETE welcomes and appreciates the ICC’s decision on July 8, 2025 to issue arrest warrants for Taliban leaders Haibatullah Akhundzada and Abdul Hakim Haqqani for crimes against humanity, specifically targeting Afghan women and girls. We thank those who brought this appeal forward and helped move it to the global stage. As a Canadian-US registered nonprofit organization, we deeply value the efforts of our volunteer ambassadors in Ottawa and Washington who have been working closely with law firms and humanitarian organizations to increase pressure on decision makers. We remain committed to advocating for Afghan women and pushing for stronger international action.

How long will the world watch Afghan girls disappear before it admits its failure?
This is not just neglect. It is betrayal.
If there is any integrity left in global leadership, if humanity still holds meaning, then why are Afghan women still in chains?
This is not a policy issue. It is a moral collapse.
Action is urgent. A generation is being erased in silence.

This is not a crisis. It is a war on Afghan women
They are banned from schools
Erased from public life
Punished for dreaming
WETE will not stay silent
We fight for every girl denied her future
To the world
Watching is not enough
Silence is betrayal

They banned Afghan girls and women from classrooms, but they cannot silence their minds. At WETE, we deliver remote education across borders and barriers. This is more than learning. It’s resistance. It’s empowerment. Will you stand with them? #WETE#Afghanistan#Taliban#Girls
The world continues to ignore Afghan women — the real ones.
Instead, they give the mic to the very former officials whose failures helped bring us here.
You can’t fix the future by listening to those who broke the past.
