@oxylennial I think it's definitely more widespread than just english speaking countries! i'm french and there's plenty of examples of gay men using fem terms very widely throughout our history!
@oxylennial@chrpolar i mean in queer culture, esp. for gay men, using fem pronouns for people, incl. masc people, is extremely common. it's just endearment (or it can be mocking, but gay men's misogyny is a whole other topic). I don't see this as seeing people like dolls
@bizz1espurpose@naboudoir it's a trigger most often. but it's not a clear-cut feeling : most of the time it's a mix of guilt for making others worry, some kind of painful awareness of looking "weird" or unappealing to someone normal, but overriden by a sense of confirmation that "it's working"

"parasocialism" is a colloquialism that was recently invented on stan twt, the most common use of which is a pseudo-clinical stand-in for "delusional" or "obsessive". this is bad b/c it obscures the actual meaning of the word parasocial and the nature of parasocial interaction
