“Kenneth Okonkwo cannot be trusted.
God loves Peter Obi, if he had been declared winner in 2023, he would have put Kenneth Okonkwo in charge of his domestic affairs; and he would have finished Peter Obi….”

Do you know that every time you buy or sell a stock on the NGX, you are paying all of these fees?
Most beginners have no idea. 🇳🇬📚
Here is exactly what comes out of your money on every single transaction:
Broker Commission—1.35% of the transaction value. This goes to your stockbroker for executing the trade on your behalf.
SEC Fees—0.30% of the transaction value. This goes to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The regulator takes a cut every time.
Stamp Duty—0.08% of the transaction value. This is a government tax on the transaction.
CSCS X-Alert Fees—₦6.45 flat per ticket. This covers the notification sent to your account when a trade is executed.
Total fees on this particular transaction: ₦3,385.11
WHY THIS MATTERS
If you buy and sell too frequently, these fees eat into your returns silently. A stock that moves 2% means nothing if your total fees on both sides of the trade equal 3%.
This is one of the reasons serious NGX investors hold for the long term. Every unnecessary trade is a donation to your broker, the SEC, and the government.
Trade with purpose. Not with noise. 🇳🇬
The Pillars of the Nigerian Stock Market (NGX) — Simple Breakdown
If you don’t understand the structure, investing will always feel confusing.
The Nigerian stock market runs on a few key pillars. Once you understand them, everything becomes clearer.
1. The Exchange
At the center is the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX).
This is the marketplace.
It is where companies are listed and where buying and selling of shares happens. Prices move based on demand and supply.
No NGX, no market.
2. Stockbrokers
You cannot buy shares directly from NGX.
Stockbrokers are your middlemen.
Firms like CardinalStone Securities and Meristem Securities execute your buy and sell orders.
They connect you to the market.
3. CSCS (Where Your Shares Live)
The Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) stores your shares electronically.
It gives you a unique CHN (Clearing House Number).
This is proof that you own what you bought.
Even if your broker disappears, your shares are safe here.
4. The Regulators
The market is monitored by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Their job is to protect investors and ensure rules are followed.
They reduce fraud and maintain order in the market.
5. The Companies
These are the businesses you invest in.
Examples include Dangote Cement, MTN Nigeria, and banks like Guaranty Trust Holding Company.
When you buy shares, you own a piece of these companies.
6. The Investors
That’s you.
Retail investors, institutions, pension funds.
You bring money into the market, and in return, you earn through growth and dividends.
Exchange → Broker → CSCS → Regulator → Companies → You
Once you understand the structure, you stop guessing and start investing with clarity.
Adesuwa: is food, fuel and electricity cheaper where you live?
Spokesman: Fuel is not only expensive in Nigeria. Go to America, the UK, and Canada, I have my family in those countries.
Adesuwa: Nigeria is improving. Why isn't your family here with us? 💀
Bad governance is affecting you negatively instead of coming to the streets with a placard. Nigerians prefer to set up ring lights and make videos. Funny citizens.
