Last night, Stephen Colbert interviewed Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, a candidate who, by all accounts, is on track in the polls to flip Texas blue.

In response, Trump’s FCC reportedly threatened CBS if the interview aired.

CBS caved and pulled the segment, citing “financial reasons.”

In modern American history, no president has been more hostile to free speech than Donald Trump.

But censorship always backfires.

Trump’s long-standing claim that he was never around Jeffrey Epstein when underage girls were present just collapsed.

Newly surfaced FBI notes from a 2019 interview with former Palm Beach police chief Michael Reiter show Trump told law enforcement in the mid-2000s that he personally witnessed Epstein with teenagers — and said he “got the hell out of there” [1].

That statement directly contradicts Trump’s repeated public insistence that he was never around Epstein when young girls were present. You can’t have it both ways. Either Trump lied to the public for years, or he lied to police and the FBI by inventing a scene that cast himself as the lone moral actor in the room [1][3].

The same call makes the problem worse, not better. Reiter says Trump also told him, “everyone has known he’s been doing this,” acknowledging Epstein’s abuse of girls was an open secret — not something Trump learned later from headlines [2]. Trump reportedly went further, warning police that Ghislaine Maxwell was “evil” and Epstein’s operative, urging them to focus on her [2].

Put together, this doesn’t read like a man clueless about Epstein’s crimes. It reads like someone who knew what was going on, says he witnessed it, and only spoke up once police were already closing in — in a private call he likely never expected to become public [4].

Bottom line: Trump’s clean-hands narrative is now in direct conflict with his own reported words to law enforcement. If his defenders want to keep claiming he was never around Epstein and underage girls, they now have to explain why Trump allegedly told a police chief the exact opposite — and why we should trust the version he told the public, not the one he told when he thought no one else would ever hear it [5].
