WFMS students took their learning outdoors to the Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge, students engaged in a poetry lesson, tree aging lesson using tree core samples, & planted trees with volunteers from Louisiana Sea Grant and the friends of Cat Island.

Meet the #WestFelExplorers. This adventurous group of 7th graders will be the first from West Fel to attend Sunship III, an outdoor learning camp in Covington, LA. So #GrateFEL to @InsideNatGeo grant funding for making this dream a reality!

Our West Fel Explorers collaborated today with Friends of Cat Island to plant seedlings that are native to the wildlife refuge. In a year, these seedlings will be ready to transplant to Cat Island. 🌳 #wearewestfel
