This past weekend on #PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton, I spoke with faith leaders who are refusing to be silent in the face of fear, racism, and attacks on our democracy.

As pastors mobilize in response to Trump’s immigration raids and his vile, racist video targeting President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, faith leaders are making it clear that silence is not an option.

I was joined by Rev. Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson (Senior Pastor, Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, New York; Chairman of the Board, National Action Network; Author, Never Lost: The Black Church as God’s Ark of the Covenant) and Rev. Dr. Delman Coates (Senior Pastor, Mount Enon Baptist Church in Clinton, Maryland; Board Member, National Action Network).

We discussed how faith leaders are organizing against ICE intimidation, voter suppression, and coordinated efforts to undermine free and fair elections, while calling on people of conscience across every race and background to stand up and be counted at the ballot box this November.

Dr. Richardson also reflected on the message of his latest book Never Lost, reminding us that in moments of crisis and cultural upheaval, the Black church has always been a vessel for resilience, faith, and direction. No matter how dark the moment, we are never lost.
