Woke up thinking about aneurysmal bone cysts, so I pulled a case:
🔹️Blood filled cystic spaces
🔹️Fibrous septae with giant cells, spindle cells, hemosiderin, and osteoid
🔹️FISH (+) for USP6 rearrangements
🔹️Ddx: giant cell tumor, telangiectatic osteosarcoma

While on call last Wed. night, the Blood Bank called with post-transfusion DAT results for a patient following a transfusion reaction. They answered the phone "This is Blood Bank", to which I sleepily replied "Hi, Blood Bank, this is Richard". 😰 #foiblesofpathcall #mortified

First week of surgical pathology has been both rewarding and challenging. Whipple's, small bowel/colon, uteri, and the occasional gallbladder or appendix. Being trained on triaging next week!
