As part of my PGR training I recall a presentation from a senior lecturer encouraging us to publish at each stage of the research process ... but of course the barriers were high. That was 20+ years ago ... but now Octopus is shrinking them. Great opportunity to drive the change!
@bbctms Impossible (& embarrassing) to@explain to a 9 and 12 year old. They were engrossed but will be harder to convince to watch again. Cricket has to be better than this…
Trying to explain Mankad to a 12 & 9 year old. “That’s just rubbish,” said the youngest. I agree. Needs sorting, MCC. They were engrossed but will be harder now to get them to engage next time… #EngvInd
Powerful campaign launch at UUK conference, including remote address from Ukrainian Education minister. A stark reminder of the fundamental that drives every one of us working in the HE sector around the globe - education (and research) changes lives
Thanks to the hard work of the sector and the negotiations team, UK universities have reached an agreement with Elsevier that provides both unlimited open access publishing and access to paywalled journal articles https://t.co/Tqxxf0hDBR
New research by me and @SnellJulia now published in @Language_In_Soc: ‘The (white) ears of Ofsted: a raciolinguistic perspective on the listening practices of the schools inspectorate’. It’s available open access and here’s a thread summarising the work. https://t.co/6d0yl1Ec8A
@campbellclaret Hexham hospital has a very obvious bank of basins at the entrance/exit for hand-washing, with vast supplies of masks. Everyone going in & out instinctively uses them - bar one muppet, clearly.
@JohnKLocal @HeidiFraskrauss@Jisc All's well! (Well, except achilles rupture back in May - but thankfully on the road to recovery...) Will drop you a DM
Back into the swing of travelling for meetings, office-time and conferences - London, Newcastle, Leamington Spa in the last two weeks and now on route to Birmingham. And it feels great!
