5k a month is completely fine starting base salary for a cameraman btw. Seasoned with him and long term it inherently should increase but I’ll weigh in on this and say he’s completely valid to pay a new cameraman 5k monthly especially if that includes housing or other benefits (especially health insurance packages if he’s hiring as employees/not 1099)
