@kiyuri_P You know whats funny? One of my favorite romantic scenes for a yuri couple had no kissing. It was emotionally resonant - so much so that they couldn't edit it out. And no one question the depth of their romantic love.

@arthurianmaiden @ewaoomf This is particularly strong in japanese society - WLW couples aren't often seen as serious, especially when the women are young. So, while their feelings are complex and very deep, a physical relationship doesn't get thought of in the same sense as gay couples.

@FlorFlorFloro @dollshojo I noticed it, but I still feel like the execution was very poorly done. What the characters said and what the camera, tone and others were showing didn't feel that way. It was almost like the storyboarding ignored the script.

@myfairstarlight nice for her. While yes she got to have elevated social status, she had a partner who loved her for who she was and got to keep him. Mari loved Lara for who she was and she didn't keep her. which makes me sad now. lol

@myfairstarlight She not only is justified by not settling for the charismatic bad guy - the superficial aspects of love, but her beast gave her a friggin library, man. For someone who loves reading and connected to people through books, Beast just went, here's all the books. Just to do something

@_marshiyan They use it for so many things, too, not just to show a romantic connection, lol. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what the rotation means but you know it's important when it shows up.

@tragicallyyuri I actually immediately pegged the ending as a very typical S-Class ending. The girls got to have their intense romantic feelings, saved the world, and now they get to do the "real' work of being or becoming an adult, leaving the intense feelings behind.

@myfairstarlight Yeah - I think one of the best to do it is Beauty and the Beast (disney). Belle doesn't really grow that much through the story, but the beast does - it's his story - but she is still a compelling character. She needed to be because the Beast was not a great person to stand up to

@_marshiyan Juri and Shiori had some rotating flowers at times, and Akio and Anthy had the rotation/ circle motif at least once, which I believe is a perversion of Anthy's and Utena's motif.

@_marshiyan They literally rotate around each other. Only characters with romantic connections in that show got to have the rotation motif. Juri and Shiori got it, as well as Akio (blergh) and Anthy.

@_PaishuArt Like sad determination on Lara's part. It's just messy and confusing to me. And it does help erase their romantic feelings towards each other. When other shows in the same season have no issue with having their wlw pairs be as explicit as they can get.

@_PaishuArt play out after Lara saves everyone. We go from this huge emotional high to trepidation, sadness, frustration, and confusion all in less than 30 seconds, then Lara says goodbye. And that's all she wrote. I don't even feel like this was a hopeful ending at all. It felt -

@myfairstarlight To be fair this isn't Mari's story, it is Lara's. BUT you can have a static character paired with a dynamic one and still have it work well. I just feel like the story was trying to have both of them grow, but ended up with Lara doing like 99% of the growing.

@ceeejayalt i honestly think that this is the crux of most of the dissatisfaction - it felt too much like a 180 from all that happened before. I don't think they allowed it to simmer as well as it could have.

@yuriutena @_veroons_ And it was never an implied perma seperation - they are going to find each other. Utena may not be in the world of the school anymore, but she's in the eorld beyond the gate. Anthy now has the want to go get her girl and is doing that.

@RyokoPanic @chieflesbian_ Revolution - its painful and lonely and you could lose people. Very few revolutions work, so I like that we see Anthy quietly just opening the gate to the school and walking away, not looking back. Utena not being there as well. Sad, lonely, but hopeful.
