Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has once again rejected holding elections under the current conditions, warning that an election campaign during the war could become a “tsunami” for the state and divide the country.

Zelensky argued that political infighting, voting arrangements for soldiers and millions of Ukrainians abroad, security concerns and possible Russian interference make elections too dangerous under current conditions.

Ukraine has not held presidential or parliamentary elections since martial law was imposed in 2022.
