Middle school teacher and learner - forever curious. Committed to helping students find and cultivate their unique ideas, identities and voices every day.
@LJ198767@MrDanielBuck I understand and appreciate the point you’re making. I just see a real issue emerging with changing student behaviors and increasing needs. An issue that can’t be solved by teacher attrition alone. It’s bigger than that and requires thoughtful analysis and systemic changes.
@LJ198767@MrDanielBuck Is this a serious response? I can’t believe how offensive your comment is to all the teachers who no doubt devoted heart and soul to this job, and likely found it very hard to leave. I see you are on “sabbatical.” It’s easy to judge unfairly from that spot, I imagine.
@teacher2teacher@MsKaeufersOwls I would love recommendations! What is the BEST education book you’ve read recently, that was published within the last 3-4 years? I’m particularly interested in content related to middle school and motivation, but excited to see other suggestions as well. Thank you!
@sage_stage Wondering why you post something that you “don’t know much about,” and also, what is “pretty typical” about a fight? Educators get so little respect outside of our profession…sometimes we don’t do ourselves any favors by acting like this kind of behavior is typical. Why provoke?
We have the best assistant principals around. They work hard to support all that they come in contact with each day. The lead with a huge heart for kids and I could not be more thankful and proud. @ProsperISD#prosperproud
@HuffPost Horrendous that this person is in a position of “power.” What kind of statement IS THAT??? Shockingly cold and callous, in addition to being illogical. So very, very maddening.
@heymrsbond Lessons in Chemistry, The Storied Life of AJ Fikry, The Sweetness of Water by Nathan Harris, The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams, This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger. All of these on my top ten list!
@longue_carabine @letsquitteachin Reading this “observation” made me appreciate even more fully the administrators in my district. They appreciate the tireless work of the teachers here, and know that 1 comment by 1 student in 1 moment in time is simply that. Thank you PSD.
@KellyGToGo This is adult fiction, but VERY compelling - Ian McKwen’s MACHINES LIKE ME. Lots of issues to discuss and ponder related to ethics, i.e. who decides what is “right” and “wrong.” Some adult content, though!
