@Rosciag@MBDscience If you mean strike rather than vote, the law is very limited about what teachers can strike for (pay and conditions). Can't strike for the education system to get more funding for example, which is what's needed for smaller class sizes
@alexpethickPKC@MissSDoherty Article suggesting it's from copying secondary practice, but in 10 years I never heard of keeping kids in one place for that long either ๐ค In fact, it was a large part of my training in 2013 to have movement and segments to lessons.
This is just poor practice at any age
@ebullienteddie@llggeorgia You're only paying the child benefit high income charge if you claim child benefit. The most it'll cost you is net zero, it's not a loss
@PsychFarmer@zacevans90@RebeccaCNReid @ThomRobs98 I think most decent people would struggle with spending 3-4 nights away from their family. Whether they're in a hotel with other colleagues (pretty standard for most business trips) or in a posh London flat/townhouse shouldn't really make a difference.
@zacevans90@RebeccaCNReid @ThomRobs98 The quality of MPs is so poor because they're in it for the power, status and perks. This country is full of hard working, decent people who want to make a difference, and do so on salaries of 20, 30, 40k. The current nepo babies are easily replaceable
@DeanEggitt Cheers for stoking up some more bigotry against disabled people ๐
What's next, casual racism? Homophobia? A classic misogynistic political commentary?
As a doctor you should do better.
@jessphillips Sunak is 100% out of touch, but so are you apparently.
Disclaimer- I'd vote green out of choice but will continue to vote Labour tactically. Labour seriously need to stop chasing the Tories and just focus on reality
@jessphillips First time buyers aren't late 20s anymore. They're in their 30s and 40s, with kids. Our first home needed to be shared ownership because we couldn't afford to get on the ladder otherwise. It's worth around 400k (3 bed semi, south). We can't afford to staircase with stamp duty
Private school is around 10 THOUSAND A TERM. You CANNOT "make a few sacrifices"/"work hard" and have a spare THIRTY THOUSAND A YEAR <per child!> It is a complete myth and I cannot stand to hear it ONE MORE TIME. It's not "normal families working hard" and "prioritising education"
@jshmtn @Barkatthemoon77 If they're LAC there's a PIP meeting every month, there's no way the school don't know the full details and are bending over backwards to support
@NATOpotato2000 @ConfusedFergie@SwailesRuth@lordclifton2@Samson1176 People are making it out like state schools are going to be flooded with additional pressure, but that's not the reality either.
In comparison to the underfunding we've had for 14 years, this is a drop in the ocean
@zozofairs@SwailesRuth If it's a good school? As an atheist, I wouldn't ever send my kids to a religious school. But different people have different priorities.
I don't think religious state schools should exist at all, I was just pointing out that the previous comment wasn't fully correct
