1/2 While the entire purpose of this account has been to call attention to Sen. Ericksen’s failings as a legislator, we do not relish the news of his death. We hope his family finds support navigating this personal tragedy.
But alas, some council members are so old fashioned and care not that 42nd district constituents will be without representation in the senate for a whole week. They want to ask QUESTIONS. 🙄 https://t.co/ScGUdwkYUh
We are looking forward to having a senator who wants to legislate. What happens next? Within 60 days, the Whatcom Republican PCOs will select three people and put them forward to the Whatcom County Council to vote on. The winner will serve out the term (ends in 2022).
As a WA resident, it irks me to see people reducing Doug Ericksen’s legacy to “anti-vax guy” when he also did SO much more, like fight against trans rights, try to kill mail-in voting, and blow off his day job to lobby for authoritarian leaders in Cambodia & El Salvador.

@geophysichick Agree 💯. When you take office as a state legislator, you gotta pony up and show up or at the bare minimum, if you can’t, step aside so that someone can.
