National Weather Service
The National Weather Service has issued this special weather statement regarding ELEVATED FIRE DANGER for this afternoon, so as a result we are HIGHLY discouraging any sort of recreational burning today.
Several days of temperatures exceeding 90 degrees are expected all next week and possibly into next weekend as well. Here are the latest key messages for this heat wave.
As we begin spring hydrant flushing, we remind residents to keep fire hydrants in their neighborhoods free & clear of overgrowth and obstructions to allow proper flushing and maintenance, and more importantly, to be able to quickly find and access them in the event of a fire.
65 years ago today, two fellow residents made the ultimate sacrifice while helping their neighbors escape the raging floodwaters of the Chagrin River. A total of six people lost their lives that night. Honor them by respecting the river and all it is capable of.
Additional AED installed at WH Community Center- located on the main level near the main entrance & restrooms. It was determined that having one on each floor would increase the chances for a successful outcome in the event someone suffers cardiac arrest.
[10:15 AM] Breezy winds, low relative humidity values, and low fuel moisture will result in an enhanced fire danger this afternoon, meaning any fire could get out of control and spread quickly. Refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn.
