@overturnH8 Hi there! Checking in again and still no updates from CalFresh on the new EBT work requirements. I’m hearing now that the deadline was Feb. 1 but there has yet to be ANY notification! Anything on your end?

@overturnH8 So, when/if SNAP returns, are we to assume that it will be canceled immediately for those recipients who do not meet the new work requirements? The grace period no one told us about may have passed, but time is still needed for notification and proof of work. Still a mystery!

@overturnH8 That would certainly be the most practical, but I doubt the feds would go for it. With CA’s SNAP work waiver currently in place, this means millions would need to comply with little or no notice, not just those in the ABAWD age extension. An impossible task!

@overturnH8 Thanks for the info. That’s insane if Nov. 1 is the END of the grace period since the majority of recipients have no idea about the new requirements. There has been no communication about any changes to SNAP in CA, not even a heads-up notification!

@overturnH8 So, Nov. 1 now. Not sure if that is when the 3-month grace period begins for work eligibility or if there even is one. If a shutdown is still ongoing then, there may not be November SNAP funds, anyway.

@overturnH8 Indeed. I read that work requirements don’t translate into significant employment numbers, just lost benefits. But then, that’s the whole point of the cuts. Kick us off.

@overturnH8 @UrbanistaRamon I have a feeling the states are confused, as well! Seems like it would have to be at least a couple of months to determine if we are complying with the work requirements. I expect we will get some local guidance next week once the details are ironed out.
