Op 10 mei 2023 valt een man neer op straat. Hij wordt naar het OLVG-ziekenhuis overgebracht, waar blijkt dat hij getroffen is door een hersenbloeding of herseninfarct. Na de nodige zorg, constateren artsen dat de man afasie heeft overgehouden. Een aandoening die communiceren in dit geval nauwelijks mogelijk maakt. Het lukt hem niet om informatie over zijn identiteit of adres te geven.

Ruud en Nel (inmiddels gepensioneerd en vrijwilliger bij Team Coldcase) krijgen de zaak van #Lucky toegewezen. In plaats van een strafrechtelijk onderzoek, starten ze met een sociaal onderzoek. Daarbij wordt gedacht aan mogelijk ongeruste familieleden, die van de gebeurtenis niets afweten en omdat ze niet in beeld zijn, ook niet in kennis gesteld kunnen worden.

Bekenden van Lucky geven aan dan dat hij waarschijnlijk uit Canada of de VS komt. Kan social media helpen Lucky te herenigen met zijn familie??

Thank you for hosting the incredible tiny civilisations of aphids and ants that I mentioned in talks about the evolution of this amazing symbiosis: the next generation of naturalists were thrilled to learn about it.

Thank you for the many species of ladybird you supported, and who I could relocate to my roses whenever the aphids on them got a little bit out of hand.

Thank you for also introducing me to the fiercely named Mealybug Destroyer beetle and its fantastical larvae.

Thank you for being the only tree along this roadside, giving somewhere for the birds to rest and shelter (I loved watching them through the window).

Thank you for the shade you cast which kept the front rooms of the house nice and cool.

Now it is thirty-five degrees and there is no air conditioning so I feel like I’m in a greenhouse.

Rest assured I will grow a new buddleia tree, and this time I will keep it in a pot so that it will preserve what I have been told is really important in this world:
