LIV guys did go for the money! It’s exactly why, beyond Bryson and Hatton, they’ve been absolute dog shit in majors! Second, Rory said before the TC that Scottie was player of the year so that tells you what matters in that race - the season, not just the majors. Last, Scottie does exactly what Tiger did - shows up to win! He competes his ass off on every hole, in every round. He doesn’t ’mail it in’ when he isn’t scoring well, like some others do. Exactly why he rarely misses cuts or T25’s.

Watson was not better when the deal was made. At the time, he hadn’t played in a year and was facing a suspension after he signed, essentially missing almost 2 seasons. Nobody, no matter how good, recovers from that much time off and comes back the same. Closest comparison is Michael Vick, and he clearly was not the same player when he returned. The trade, most fans could live with. The guaranteed contract was the anchor no one wanted.
