@Airgenium@810OG@DetroitOnLion A bad pick is someone like Giovanni Manu: wasn’t highly rated, gave up a lot of capital for a project.
A failed pick is someone like Jeff Okudah or Arnold: at the time, the pick was widely considered the correct move and both players were viewed as great prospects.
On March 21, 2024, the Lions released then-starting CB Cameron Sutton after an arrest warrant.
A month later on April 25, the Lions drafted Terrion Arnold to be their future starting CB.
Now in June 2026, Arnold gets released after his arrest.
@brett_spaghett There was a rumor/joke that he caught a Chilean parasite during his offseason travels after his All-Pro season, and that’s why his performance tanked.
Recent play: Reynolds catches those passes vs. 49ers
Recent draft: Donald over Ebron
Serious: Chuck Hughes doesn't die
Non-serious: DeAndre Levy doesn't travel to Chile
Excited for this pick, even if there’s concerns with his dad also being the HC.
Best of all, he probably won’t demand a trade to an American team down the road.
I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not.
Arnold had zero character red flags entering the draft.
Carter was involved in a fatal street race before the draft and had serious concerns about his effort and character.
@Whiticar It is fair to blame him
Didn’t draft Jalen Carter for character concerns Yet drafted a man who’s facing life in prison
Overrated Brad does it again
@FootballGuy_Al Bingo. There's a difference between a bad draft pick and a failed draft pick. Arnold (and I would also argue Okudah) were failed draft picks, not bad draft picks.
Terrion Arnold was a top-10 prospect and the highest-rated defensive player by both Daniel Jeremiah and Dane Brugler (compared him to Jaylon Johnson). Lance Zierlein and Doug Farrar compared him to Marshon Lattimore.
The Lions brought Arnold in for a Top 30 visit, added him to a DB room with former Alabama defensive backfield mate Brian Branch, and he was a player well-regarded by Nick and Miss Terry Saban.
There were no red flags. He was the highest-value first-round pick compared to consensus board and was widely viewed as a strong selection at No. 24 by Brad Holmes.
The Detroit Lions 2024 NFL Draft class has underwhelmed, but Arnold was the right pick at the time.
We can (and will) criticize the 2024 Lions draft, and while you can blame Holmes for picking Arnold over, say, DeJean, it isn’t fair to blame Holmes for drafting Arnold in general.
He was a good prospect at a position of need - this is a failure on Arnold.
Obviously we’ll see how the legal proceedings play out, but Arnold’s time in Detroit and the NFL is almost certainly reaching an end.
Disappointing doesn’t begin to describe it.
Source: Lions CB Terrion Arnold has been arrested and is facing multiple felony charges which carry a potential sentence of up to life in prison. Story to post shortly.
@lakecountydem The difference is that you can realistically sign a former NFL RB and play them right away.
For a QB, not only does a team need to sign him, but he'd probably be a 3rd string with zero knowledge of Canadian football. So it wouldn't really help his draft stock.
