It should be $2k/mo for duration of pandemic + free healthcare going forward. That’s what people in other countries receive w/ much lower rates of Covid. It’s time for Americans to expect more & receive more, and time for huge corporate conglomerates to expect less & receive less
We are 34 mayors representing more than 16 million Americans across the country, and we are calling on @POTUS & @VP for recurring checks each month through the duration of this crisis. See our full-page ad in today’s @washingtonpost. #OneMoreCheckisNotEnough
A few things:
- Real jobs don’t come with bills
- Eviction does not guarantee immediately filling the vacancy, so if you can’t afford to not have rent paid, you can’t afford a rental property
- Stop daydreaming about having the power to evict people
Listen when I buy more property. I’ll evict my tenants with the QUICKNESS for not paying.. 1 or two months if you speak to me.. we can arrange something. But who is gonna pay MY bills please?
If a boat has holes and is actively filling with water, but 7 out of 10 people in the boat refuse to help plug up the holes, the boat continues to fill and at a much higher rate than it would if all 10 people worked to fill the holes together. Again, how does that not make sense?
If a segment of the population (maybe those who don’t believe in masks) don’t wear masks, the efficacy of masks goes down. There’s correlation between participation and effectiveness. Less participation, less effectiveness. How does that not make sense?
Schools are already required to have mask policies, but @AZDHS will be issuing an emergency measure to make sure schools statewide are implementing those policies on school grounds and on school buses. More information can be found at https://t.co/oJ2LGMg41b 5/
Not to be too loud, but Doug Ducey does not care about the people of Arizona and is an incompetent leader who has spent time prioritizing his own agenda.
We have promoted mask use and common sense. Masks work. Today we see masks worn statewide in nearly every setting as part of reopening guidelines. Our focus has been on compliance and public health education. 5/
Ducey says this but cases are up once again! What’s provided via unemployment isn’t enough and Arizona residents are being put in the tough spot of stretching $240 every week.
It’s paid off. Arizona’s economy is recovering faster and stronger than states that took the extreme approach. Unemployment is down, and jobs are growing. 3/
Ducey says this but there are SEVERAL small, local businesses who have yet to receive any government assistance with reopening safely, despite there still being plenty of CARES money
Early in the pandemic, I prohibited cities from implementing onerous shutdowns on local businesses and citizens as some local politicians threatened to bring our entire economy to a complete halt. 2/
So just to recap -
On demand testing.
Space to safely quarantine.
High quality medical care.
Science backed therapeutics.
No surprise medical bill.
Paid leave.
That’s exactly what we’ve been saying every single person should receive. Not just the wealthy and elected.
By all means, get mad at this sociopathic Tillis staffer, but he’s just saying out loud what the underlying premise of our healthcare system has been and will be until we remove the profit motive from it, which all Republicans and most leading Democrats oppose doing.
Essential workers need essential rights. That includes:
✅The right to a union
✅A living wage
✅Paid time-off
✅Family Leave
✅Medical Leave
✅Hazard Pay
✅A safe environment
✅Freedom from discrimination

@DirectNewsComm He’s already there. We’re watching him congratulate qanon primary winners and legitimize them by sending trump surrogates to campaign with them. Trump has already leaned into qanon.
