there is so much context missing from that quote not just from hooks but from the content of the quote itself? from what I know of her work there’s about 3million diff dissections of power structures in that quote, not even subtextually
should writing be clear instruction(?) rather than being an individual voice added (or not) to a collection of perspectives, reframed and refracted through the specific lens of one’s own experience and actioned to the extent that one feels is appropriate? formative is not bad!
this is not to downplay aforementioned tension or any issues that may create for readers! as much as outright dismissal is an option, taking the focal “aphorism” as a prompt may be more effective no? It is definitely more fun!
