Hey @McMasterU 👋 - With the current refugee crisis becoming an evermore pressing topic, this student-centred course about "human flow" seeks to understand the complex lives of refugees by listening to their voices. Enrol in INSPIRE 3II3 C01 to learn more & be done by end of May!
@maddiebrockbank @McMasterU@mcmasterhum I’m going to recommend this course to my current first year students. We covered a lot of these themes and I think many would love to do a deeper dive!
@mslaurafacciolo @melindajgough This is painfully accurate. As a TA, I’d go above and beyond my hours because I loved what I was doing and wanted the best experience for students. But it meant that I was not always being compensated adequately for my labour. TAs deserve everything they’re asking for and more.
Wrapped up teaching History 1EE3 today. Had a student come up to me after class to ask if I’d be teaching anything next term. They’d taken the course as an elective, but enjoyed it so much they wanted to take another course with me. Excuse me while I go cry 😭
Students miss TAs. Instructors miss TAs. Staff miss TAs! My office is right down the hall from several tutorial rooms and I miss the sound of students learning. There are also TA offices on the floor and I miss hearing them chatting and laughing.
A student thanked me today for sharing how to support the #MacStrike in class. Apparently I’m their only instructor to do so. I was shocked. C’mon folks, let’s support our TAs! I can’t run my class without their hard work and they deserve a #BetterMac@cupe_3906
We went into today truly hopeful #McMaster would come to the table with a fair and reasonable offer, but sadly, despite our best efforts, talks have broken down. We will be striking starting on Monday.

How is my first day being back on campus, you ask? Well, the lock on my office door decided to stop working when I left to run to the bathroom between meetings. On the bright side, the Mac locksmith is awesome!
