Abdul El-Sayed: “Canadians are like the only people in the world who are going to preemptively apologize for something they didn't even do. So if you're starting a trade war with Canada, it's because you're the asshole.”
I don't want to brag but my Prime Minister doesn't have to pay his wife to attend public events with him, he doesn't post childish memes, or fear women, doesn't associate with sex traffickers or pedophiles, has never filed for bankruptcy, or fear diversity, is a respected..
I heard a line that sums up the MAGA pretty well:
Wealthy Republicans tolerate Trump’s racism because they want the tax cuts. Poor Republicans tolerate the tax cuts because they want the racism.
As an Australian, I think it's the prime minister of Canada, Mark Carney, who is showing the world the reality of what Trump is doing. He tried to work with Trump; he tried to have a good relationship with Trump, and he did because it's better for Canada. But he realizes that it doesn't work. You can't appease a bully. There will be a cost for countries that oppose Trump, but there is a bigger cost for not.
“I didn’t like George W. Bush, but at least he knew how to work a chain saw, or ride a horse or shoot a shotgun.
This is a dying pedophile, with bitch tits, a pussy on his neck, who paints his face orange every day and shits in his pants.”
Ontario Premier Doug Ford: "The red states we're gonna hit hard ... you think an insult from him [Trump] hurts me? Bring it on, buddy. You're a loser."
I can't believe this needs to be said...
...but Canada is its own fucking country.
It is not a 51st state or US owned territory or whatever the fuck Trump is rambling on about.
Let me get this straight: Donald Trump is sucking up to Kim Jong Un, a brutal dictator who runs one of the world’s most repressive regimes, holds tens of thousands of political prisoners, and has supplied Putin with millions of artillery shells, ballistic missiles, and thousands of troops for his war against Ukraine while the president has essentially declared economic war on Canada, one of America’s closest friends and allies.
Canada fought beside us in two world wars, Korea, and Afghanistan; sheltered Americans after 9/11; and helps defend our continent every day through NORAD. Our economies are profoundly intertwined, with nearly $3.5 billion in trade crossing our border every day, supporting millions of jobs and deeply integrated supply chains. And beyond all that, Canadians and Americans are bound together by generations of family, friendship, travel, education, sports, music, movies, books, and a vast shared culture.
This is nuts.
How did America’s friends become our enemies and our enemies become our friends?
Every American should reach out to your elected representatives demanding change and reach out to your Canadian friends to express friendship.
You seem to forget the part about "using economic force" to "annex or acquire Canada," @GinnyRothTO.
Or the part about the "imaginary line" (ie border) based on "a fake treaty."
Or the Oval Office maps showing Canada as part of the USA.
Or the constant ridicule and denigration of our country and its sovereignty, and endless talk about making Canada the 51st state.
The attacks on the honour of our Afghan War dead ("they stayed a little bit back, a little bit off the front lines.")
Or our reliability as an ally ("they've never been there for us") after incurring some of the highest per capita casualties in defence of the United States in Afghanistan.
Or the threats to invade a neighbouring NATO ally (ie Danish Greenland.)
Or the threats to remove Canada from the Five Eyes, and the suspension of the Permanent Joint Defence Board.
Or treating Canada like a greater security threat than North Korea, the Peoples Republic of China, or Putin's Russia.
And now the stated goal of "changing Canada's behaviour." What behaviour? That of a reliable friend, ally, and major trading partner that actually respects its trade agreements?
Yes, we have to approach all of this with a measure of prudence, restraint and patience. Yes, we should seek a modicum of certainty amidst the constant chaos and impulsiveness.
But Canada is not a mere economic zone whose entire national purpose is the minimization of tariffs.
We are not a punching bag.
There is nothing "grown up" about ignoring or normalizing the constant provocations and betrayals.
"lol GUYS," our entire history of sustaining a sovereign Canada next to a global super power has been an act of constant will, of which we should be immensely proud. Because thankfully, our forebears were animated by love of country, not by craven cynicism masquerading as hard headed realism.
@MarkJCarney Good. Fair trade or no trade. Vance mocked us all day today — Canada ain’t playing. Going to take a long time to repair this relationship. Shame on the US leadership for treating their closest alley so poorly. Shame shame shame.
@ARCRaidersGame 400+ hours topside and haven’t touched this game in months. You guys have one of the best games ever made and you keep dropping the ball. It’s unplayable in its current state. Hoping for a huge October surprise, but not holding my breath.
@ARCRaidersGame Miss playing this game. Over 400 hours topside and last few times I’ve tried it’s just rat city and single players teaming up to rat. All for PVP and don’t mind the occasional trusting somebody and then getting killed… but not every. fucking. time.
@MarkJCarney Go Mark! Trump chirps for the cameras bit behind closed doors he cowers. Typical bully. All bark, no bite. He will claim victory while Canada walks away the winner. That’s how you play Trump. Let him think he won so his base praise him — and everybody else knows he lost.
