This is helpful for thumbnails and branding but also video aesthetics and composition .

My background in photography taught me about camera gear and lighting , which are essential technical skills for a content creator…

By being a manager and department head, I learned about hiring, firing and managing creative talent…

Anyone who is going to hire vendors or build a team, needs this experience or they will waste time and thousands of dollars getting it wrong…

Media and Ad Buying, gave me insight into brand deals and sponsorship from the buyers side and how the value and price placement and track ROI.

Writing press releases for a company and also writing and managing a newsletter, taught me the importance of owning your reputation and access to your audience and customers.

In general being in corporate taught me that a customer list of 10,000 people who buy, doesn’t require massive amounts of attention or even going viral, and can make you millions of dollars…

You just need to Create enough value for 1000 True Fans, over and over, and aspire to turn 1000 into 10,000…

Content Creation has several practical career skills that have a basis in traditional work in fields across business, media and technology …

It’s a legitimate career, built on being a polymath and multidisciplinary …

If you don’t think YouTube or Content Creation can’t be taught or can only be taught by people who get 1M views per upload it ignored basic real world skills and applications behind the work required…

Unicorns make it look like magic, some people with wild success are gifted or privileged …

But the truth is the best thing you can do is learn the right combination of hard skills and soft skills instead of looking to be taught how to come up with a viral video idea that relies on you rich, raunchy or reckless…

Get your skill set established.

Learn the craft visual design, the craft of video production and editing , as well as public speaking , sales, marketing and self promotion.

Make something that has a good market fit and plays to your strengths instead of chasing someone else’s…

Reliably deliver and build your tribe.

Create a product and a list you own instead of being a Digital Share Cropper.

Build 1000 True Fans that support with their wallets and not just their eye balls.

That is what I teach and what I hope people are learning from me.

And when it comes down to these things, nobody can say I haven’t walked the walk for over a decade…
